    Hotel should have made us aware of disruptions before allowing us to book

    A hotel's main purpose is to provide a relaxing and enjoyable place for people. This hotel failed miserably. The main issue was the noise. There were roadworks all night. Not just any type of roadworks, the type that require everyone within a 60 mile radius to bolt down everything to the floor. The room vibrated all night, so much that the door handle at some stage broke off. We didn't get any sleep at all as we were bracing ourselves similar to what would happen if you were in a house made of cardboard in a category 28 hurricane. Roadworks are unavoidable, I know that, however the inexcusable thing is that when we booked (over the phone) absolutely no mention was made of this. There was a letter in the room informing the hotel of the roadworks dated a full week before we booked so the staff were aware. If we had known that we would be subjected to similar loads that astronauts experience when launching to space we would have prepared appropriately by training for 6 months prior to our stay and bringing our helmets. When we contacted reception to make them aware that our brains were at real risk of detaching from our skulls the person at reception said they would make the manager aware and we heard nothing further from anyone. Anyway as sleep was off the cards we made use of the night and really got to know eachother. (Through text of course, couldn't hear anything over the noise for a conversation). Apart from the noise, the room wasn't also up to the expected standard. It was poorly maintained with stains all over the furniture and carpets. Wouldn't recommend booking here.

    Average. Disappointing

    Bed was comfy Disliked · Corner suites (premium rate) are very noisy as they are located near the stairss and lifts so all you hear all night is returning guests to their rooms. Decanter of Sherry and Gin to use in the room I though was unhygienic especially in these times. I has very noisy neighbours who drank til 430am and chatted with friends in the open hallway and bounced from room to room slamming doors. I returned back to the hotel after 1am (working at a building refurbishment in the area) and found a notice on the door to call the night manager to open the doors - who didnt answer their phone.. I had to bang on the doors and Windows to finally get his attention so didnt feel safe.. The reason I stayed here was I wanted to get some sleep before a long drive back home and wanted to feel safe but as neither of these things were fulfilled i didnt enjoy my experience. There is a huge leisure / nightclub on ten corner of the opposite street so in more a times I would anticipate this is more of a party hotel than a quiet or business location. Didnt get asked any covid questions, and temperature not taken I did get a discount as I aired my concerns on checkout But that didnt fix my tiredness x

    Great Treat!

    We were one of the first guests with my husband after reopening. Every member of the staff was cheerful and treated us as royalty. The bed was comfy, the spa is amazing and the breakfast was delicious. We will definitely return. Thank you!

    Great stay and hotel!

    Firstly the room was great. It was spacious and had a really nice viewing bit. Didnt try the complimentary gin or Sherry but nice touch. Bed was a super king which we loved! Used the spa and had a great massage. Also went to the restaurant for a dessert and breakfast which was good. Would recommend the room service cocktails too!

    Lovely relaxing stay

    Just got back from a two night stay at the hotel. Paid for a corner suite with a free-standing bath tub, had wonderful views of the sea. The room was big, very clean and modern. The bed was also massive, very comfortable and the room was very warm. The free Sherry and gin in the room was a nice touch. We didnt have much interaction with the staff but they seemed friendly enough. We didnt eat at the restaurant. Check in was very quick and the location is great. The spa facilities were good and had a couple of treatments which were nice and relaxing. My massage and facial were excellent and my therapist asked questions to accommodate to my needs. My partner had a Mens facial but felt his therapist wasnt very attentive, just started doing it without asking him about his needs/skin which he was disappointed with but was happy with the end result. During corona times you need to pre-book a slot in the sauna and steam room which I thought was odd as youre not really using those for much longer than 10 minutes at a time? You dont need to pre-book the jacuzzi, pool or hydro pool though. A minor moan would be that there werent towels provided in the spa, you need to ask for a locker code and one will be inside which no one told us despite us having chatted with someone at the spa reception. Also no drinking water was provided in the spa, just little things like this stopped it from being a 5-star experience.
