    Perfect location

We booked a one night stay and it was lovely. Check in was quick and easy. Had a lovely room overlooking the golf course with a large veranda. Ate the in restaurant which was a good experience too. I had moulds ....very very nice and partner had a burger. Both dishes were presented beautifully. I would have preferred staff to be wearing face masks or coverings. But the tables were spaced apart which is great.

Lovely food and now dog friendly bar

We have eaten a few times and the portions are huge and very tasty. The prices are very reasonable too. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. We are now allowed to take a dog into the bar which is great for holiday makers on Juliots Well or the C&MH club sites next door.

    Its a golfers hotel

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel basically because we live in the SW and play golf. On arrival the 'drive' from the main road is impressive, but the Car Park needs attention and money spent on it. Whilst there was ample signage for the Pro shop and changing rooms we had to ask someone where the Hotel entrance was. Reception is a Kiosk, but check-in was quick and efficient. I had previously phoned the Hotel to book dinner in the Restaurant as it was my wifes birthday, so i asked the Receptionist to double check. Alas she said they don't get involved with the restaurant and to enquire in the bar. The room on the 1st floor was ok and overlooked the 1st fairway. At 18.30 i switched the TV on to get the News but got 'No Signal TV Service Available'. I couldn't get hold of Reception - they had either closed or something else. At 19.15 we went to Dinner. Although I had booked for 19.30 there was nothing in the Book. when i had previously telephoned to book dinner i was presented with 4 options. 1 for Reservations, 2 for Pro Shop, 3 for Golf Manager and 4 for car & Catering. I pressed 1 but it was closed. As there ws no option for Reception the next time i pressed 4 and spoke to a lady in catering who took my booking. whichever way i look at it, not being able to speak to Reception - the most crucial communication post in any hotel, is poor. Given the Covid restrictions you have to download an app to order drinks and food. We sat on a table for 10 minutes without anyone checking up on us so we went to them and were informed about the app. the app is pretty slick by the way and certainly cuts down on interactions with others The rooms do not have noise insulation - you can hear next doors toilet. Also avoid room 108 as its directly above the entrance and where smokers congregate - its noisy Unfortunately for us the weather was bad plus there was a big Open so we decided not to play, but the Course did look good. To conclude the hotel is fine for groups of golfers but its not a patch on its namesake in Wiltshire = Bowood Hotel, spa & golf resort

    'Tired'

1 night 'stop-off' stay and thank goodness it was only 1 night. This hotel only seems to cater for Golfing enthusiasts and we arrived during a pairs tournament and felt slightly out of place. We paid a budget price and got a budget room so can't complain too much, but on the whole I wished we'd have stayed at The Travelodge up the road . It felt like a social club with tired outdated rooms that resembled a care home for golfers who need a bed for the night after drinking too much to care. We had no TV in the evening as there had been an issue with a main aerial. Consequently in bed very early as room so drab. Unfortunately needs a bit more money spent to encourage a wider market if to survive .

    Fantastic stay

We extended our visit to Cornwall by an extra night and found this fantastic hotel. When we arrived the sun was shining over the golf course, could have have been anywhere in the Mediterranean. Reception very kindly upgraded us to room 201 with fantastic views. The food was amazing, freshly cooked and a breakfast that was fantastic with plenty of choice. Thank you for a great end to our visit to Cornwall.
