    Perfect honeymoon

Beautiful surroundings and a very nice and cozy hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast was good and the evening dinner as well. Nice and clean room and a relaxing spa. Perfect area for hiking and mountainbiking.

All that glitters is not gold

The hotel has been thoughtfully designed and is visually very appealing. It had the luxury feel. However, as many reviewers have noted, it is badly let down by the service and attention to detail. After a 4 hour drive we were offered a free glass of tap water on arrival (the welcome drink). We often had to hunt for staff to get service. Dinner orders wrong almost every time. Spa relaxation rooms far too cold. The food attempts to be imaginative, but its mostly window dressing, sometimes amusingly (Knödel carpaccio- seriously?) anyway - the region has few places this visually appealing, and if you can put up with poor service - its ok. But - the value for money is ultimately poor. I have never paid quite so much, and then had to make multiple trips in to the kitten to literally find someone to serve me... disappointing

    Lovely hotel with excellent location

We stayed here for four nights for a ski break. The interior is contemporary but still has a traditional, cosy feel. All the staff are wonderful - extremely helpful and friendly. Our room (37), at the back of the hotel, was lovely with an extremely comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Lots of space. We had complete peace and quiet. The only reason we gave a very good rather than excellent was because we didnt have much of a view. We ate in the restaurant once and had a fantastic fondue. Even though the hotel is very close to the ski lift, the buggy ride to the ski lift was very much appreciated and fun! We would definitely return.

Light and some shade in the Salzburg Alps

We visited this boutique hotel with our small children after having been attracted by the hotel corporate film and their website. Upon arrival, not everything was as it seemed in the advertising: the house was nestled in a small village, the chimneys were all fake (building regulation?) and the beautiful library (which made it into the AD magazine) was actually a small 3x3m room with faux book-backs. Nevertheless the place had charme and the staff (especially Martina, Esther and Elvira) were always very attentive and friendly. The cuisine was above average and the wine list heavily focussed on Austrian wines - nothing to complain at all - we never had a bad meal. The guests were mainly from the BeNeLux and Germany and the overall athmosphere was warm and cheerful. The best part of the Jagdhof (= hunting lodge) was the SPA and its sauna section: in a reconstructed old barn, we enjoyed ourselves the most. The hotel also had a small cinema and a buggy which would take you to and from the local ski-lifts - very convenient. On the first day we met the owners wife, who was very warm and engaging- giving us a handwritten note about the best alpine chalets in the area for our lunch-breaks. Her husband seemed to be less involved. Overall we had a great week and even with the already mentioned design flaws (another one was the whole collection of TeNeues coffee table books: Cars!, Stars!, Cigars!), we felt well taken care of and had a good time. Thanks.

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful secenery - but really badly managed!

The hotel design is beautiful and I personally love places that provide this cosy warm winter feeling. Therefore returned back this year for a second visit. The management and service, already not the best last year, became even worse. As already mentioned by other reviewers, a glass of tub water as welcome drink is just ridiculous (after a 6hr drive through the snow chaos) and I was not offered help with my luggage. We also had to search for staff regularly. The food is disappointing and makes me feel ashamed as in Austria we usually provide much better quality and variety. Strange creations (the Knödel-carpaccio) that I have never seen before, totally dry hard bread for a "Swiss Cheese Fondue" (I used to live in Switzerland, never got this there), no choices for dinner (only meat vs. veg for main course) ... all together very poor value for money. We asked for tub-water (together with the wine) but we got only bottled water and the same at breakfast, no tub water available, they charged us 6.50 for bottled water. Also the outdoor pool was closed for 3 days as the staff hadn't removed the snow regularly so they couldn't remove the cover. I was recommended to use the whirl-pool instead which was obviously not kept clean as I got a skin-infection after my return (also called "whirl-pool dermatitis" ... all together I feel ripped off.
