  Great Location, But...

  The first thing we noticed was the road construction blocking the parking area. I took us a while but we found a place to park and then schleped our bags the 3 blocks to the hotel. No, they cannot control the road construction but if they are going to advertise free on site parking they should have it or notify us in advance. At least they should chat with the city so that we do not get ticketed. Then the room they gave us was not cleaned so, they gave us a different one on the street. We had to open the windows because we could not turn the heat completely off. The revelers on the street below were quite noisy until late into the night. On the up side, the internet was good but you have to get an individual username and password for each device. We were not told that and had to make a 3rd trip down to the desk. The bed was typically European, split, individual duvets, but, not as hard as many. Although small, the room was adequate for the one night stay. The large picture of Martin Luther over the bed was an interesting decorating choice. Although fitting for Wittenberg, it was a little disquieting to have him watching. The breakfast was adequate. The elevator was working. Everything seemed to be in good repair but out dated, from the 1980s not the 1680s. This place is great if you just need a place to flop for the night, particularly if you want to walk to the sights of downtown Wittenberg, but expect small and a little uncomfortable and you will not be too disappointed.

  Solid property

  The two key points of this review are: I recommend the Ring Hotel Schwarzer Baer, and Id stay here again. The RingHotel Schwarzer Baer is right at the Markt square in Altstadt Wittenberg. It is just 500 meters from the Schlosskirche in one direction, and the Lutherhaus and the Melancthonhaus in the other. The Stadtkirche, the Old Latin School, the Cranach Museum and the Rathaus are steps away. The hotel is garni, in the German. It does not have its own restaurant, only a breakfast room. Dont be sad, there are restaurants doors away on both sides of the street. The breakfast is simple, but plentiful. Fresh Breads, fruit spreads, meats and cheeses are available. There is a self serve espresso maker, or you can ask for ordinary coffee. Our room was nicely sized, well appointed, and quite comfortable. If youre not used to European king beds, let me give you a clue: they are two complete twin beds shoved together. Its not easy to snuggle with your bride. The bath has one blessing... the shower is easy to access. As with so many hotels, if you hang up your towel, you will re use it, if you leave it on the floor, theyll replace it. The hallways have smartlights, and the doors use traditional metal keys. The staff is German speaking, but we had no problems communicating Heat is steam, through radiators. In the summer, there is no air conditioning.

  Good stay

  I like the room, with lot of connections to Luther and Cranach works. All clean, cozy, good furnitured. Bed could be in the better condition Very good breakfast, friendly stuff, but quite crowdy room Small lift, freezing, as outside of the building. Very well placed in the city center

  Can't fault it

  Lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our booking included breakfast, which had plenty of choice and was a good quality. The hotel is ideally located on the main street in the town (perfect for sightseeing), and only a stone's throw from the Altstadt train station. Our room was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

  Best location

  Convenient location, good service and breakfast. Free parking place just behind building. Rooms a little old but clean. Internet not always working, all in all better than average options in town. I would recommend..
