Classy, historic accomodation in an interesting, ancient walled townWe had a very comfortable, clean, spacious, modern room on the top floor of a renovated historic building which originally formed part of Levoca city walls. The advantage of the top floor was the fantastic views - the disadvantage the climb up the stairs to the room (no lift/elevator). The Pracharen has an excellent restaurant. The location is very good being just a short walk to the historic centre of Levoca. The day we were there was at the end of festival week so we were able to walk along and enjoy all the cultural activities and craft stalls and yet stay in a very relaxing, quiet location. Breakfast was very good.

Uniqe place - but. This is a fine hotel in terms of cleanliness, quality of the room, bedding and location. The staff was'nt kindly and the wifi did not work at all. If they want us to visit whay to make long face?! We will not come back. c

Old bastion renovatedBeautiful room with antique furniture. Hotel with lots of character. Quiet hotel. Only negative point: the pillow was uncomfortable. The bed itself was comfortable. Very good restaurant with very tasty food. Attentive waiter with excellent English. Nice breakfast (scrambled eggs, nice brown bread, yogurt, nuts, jam, ham, cereals). Perfect location: 1-2 minutes' walk from the very centre of Levoca.

A sour end to my weddingThink twice about having a wedding here. They started off very polite and very helpful when we were in the discussion stages, and to be fair on the young manageress at the time, she clearly did her best to organise everything and gave us a lovely traditional welcome, BUT the problems arose as soon as we all went into the function room: - The tables and chairs were placed far too close together. My guests had to move everything apart. Surely the staff had realised this when setting everything up? - The (young and inexperienced) waiting service was horrendous. At first they were confused about how to serve drinks, then after some misinterpreted instruction (from us, not their supervisor!) they messed up further: instead of placing a bottle of everything on each table, as is normal in Slovak weddings, they actually opened a bottle of wine for each guest who wanted it, leading to huge, expensive wastage for us the next day. They were very slow to bring out food, so people on one side of the room were finishing their meals before the other side had even got theirs. - One waitress in particular was very rude. By 1am (still early at a Slovak wedding) she clearly wanted to go home and kept giving me, the bride, evil and dirty looks. Who cares that she was being paid to do her job, right? Clearly she was being inconvenienced by us. - The next day the owner of the place, an older lady, caused a massively uncomfortable scene by shouting at the manageress within our hearing because she had given us some of our buffet food for breakfast instead of making us pay for their breakfast (because sure, another 8 euros on top of thousands of euros for the previous 2 days really does matter). - The same owner was then extremely rude to my new (Slovak) in-laws when it came to check out and tried to get my (English) friends to pay twice for their accommodation (they had their Booking.com receipts, luckily), then started demanding we pay for our/our in-laws' accommodation before we'd even finished packing up (and this was still before check-out time). Sure, because we were obviously going to run off without paying... - They barely helped us pack up our left-over wines etc which obviously took a long time given their open, undrunk status. The owner refused to take any responsibility for her waiters' mistakes and then had the gall to demand we take the empty bottles home too because, despite it being an events place, there was supposedly no room in the bins for them. - Finally, when we got home, we realised our custom-made cake topper was not amongst our things. We emailed them, and they said they couldn't find it. Clearly, they'd either broken and/or thrown it away. I then emailed them properly with our completely honest feedback from the wedding, and asked them to compensate us for it, as they had clearly disposed of it. The owner responded that she had "no obligation to". I asked again if we were to expect any apology for the mistakes and the negative treatment we'd received, but I got no answer. Really, if we'd have just received an apology and the measly £26 for the cake topper, I would not have posted this review. Nearly 8 months after the wedding, however, is long enough to wait for the owner to reflect and act on this. I'd understand their silence (and the hostility!) if we'd been bad guests, but no, no-one was badly-behaved or boorish. Still, the building itself makes for good photos, the food was great and the manageress and the male waiter were the only staff members of the day who were professional and helpful - hence our two stars.

A very good example of a very bad hotel. The worst hotel I've stayed in. Just imagine you've paid for a hotel with 4 stars, the bath stuff as a shampoo, etc, some of them have been already open!!!! And everything looked like taking from other hotels because it was from different brands. TERRIBLE! and yeah, what about the services ? In the whole hotel work just 2 persons. Receptionist, who has to buy and prepares breakfast and do the reception staff, and cleaning lady... fun fact the receptionist is there only until 9 pm, so if you have a problem or something after 9 pm it's your problem. I really don't recommend this hotel! The price should be less than 20 and they should lose every star they've got!
