A complete and so unusual surpriseThis hotel offers a total different and really unique experience. If you are able to find it (there is only one small sign on the road and after that nothing at all !!!) you will be totally taken by surprise. I dont want to tell you what will happened but I strongly advise you to make a movie when you climb the stairs up to the top.....and then.... you will face a restaurant you have never seen and will never forget The rooms need to be renewed (sole reason for the missing star) but the experience is so unique that you forgive A very special mention to the restaurant manger Edward for his very high quality service and permanent kindness : a very high professionnel Do not miss this exclusive place

Peaceful experience with the nature! It will be a surprise when you visit the place for the first time. It is all about the nature and the property is close to Sinharaja Forest Reserve. Excellent place to relax and have a peaceful time. Weather is completely irrelevant, and you will enjoy every moment whether it is rainy day or sunny. Hotel restaurant is located under a natural rock, hotel staff is very friendly, and food is Excellent.

Amazing place!Don't come here for service or food - both is sorely lacking, But not all is the staff's fault, it seems. They are very few and not given the right tools to run this place well. No one was at reception when we arrived - had to make a call from my foreign sim card to get someone's attention. The rooms have seen better days. They are very large, but no one seems to much care about them - as is the case for the entire property. So, again, don't come here for a nice hotel experience - you will be very disappointed, but do come here if you are interested in design and architecture and even landscape design (although that comes here naturally, thank goodness). For those last three interests, this hotel is fantastic, really fantastic. Once you get over the shock when you arrive, just wander around and absorb.... We understand that the resort was sold last year and big renovations are in the planning. We can only hope that the changes won't kill the spirit of the place. We recommend you make your own picture of it - this one is hard to rate.... It feels like a place which has been forgotten by its owners..... Thank you to the person in charge, who, after a huge disappointment for dinner, went out of his way with breakfast. He served up a real banquet. Was a wonderful experience. Thank you!

A great hotel gone downhillFirst visited this hotel when I was about 12.Even then food was horrible. This time it was really bad. We were given 7 course dinner which had ginger in basically everything(ginger is everywhere actually) Main was chips and chicken or pork with sauce and some vegetables. Since 4 of us dont eat either of those the staff kindly gave us fried fish. That is why Im giving them 2 stars otherwise it would be 1 for the beautiful environment. The amount of food was enough but since its fixed menu Im pretty sure they could do something more and I personally expected have a more sophisticated meal from a hotel like this. And they dont have any WiFi,TV or a/c(that is perfectly understandable since the environment was so cool and healing)However I dont complain abt it since I get the message behind it. But even then both rooms were horrible. My parents room had a pink color bidet shower. How on earth did a shower like that ended up in a hotel like this?? I understand it may have been an emergency but the shower looked too old to think that it was an emergency.me and my sisters shared a room for 3. When we ask for a room for 3 we expect it to have a door for bathroom. This didnt have a one and we had to warn each other before going in and was very uncomfortable but the story is not that. We accidentally found that the room was a double room and there were two separate stands to put the mattresses so that there are two separate beds. They have put someother 3rd stand between the two that was already there and covered it with a single double mattress. However the mattress was too small so a part of the cement stands were visible from either sides. If one of us were to fall from the bed we would directly hit the edge of those cement stands which would have broken our teeth and injured our heads and necks. It was extremely dangerous thing. So it was very clear that the safety of the customers were not there concern. Also they didnt had any security guards in the guardroom. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and need urgent replacement. My sister had a back pain and it got aggravated after sleeping on that and me who didnt had any back pain developed it after sleeping. The room had the horrible smell you get when u dont use a room for a long time.At least hang an air freshener. Bedcovers and cushion covers were all dirty with black dirt marks. Bedsheets were extremely thin that we were feeling cold all through the night. In the bathroom they had fixed a gadget which gives shower gel etc when you press it.I dont know its name. However it was not in use and they had put all the gels and shampoos in separate bottles. Then they should have just removed that gadget.it was extremely not nice to have that when it was not working. However worst was finding the road. After taking the turn from the main road we have to travel quiet a distance to get to the hotel and on the way there were somany cross roads that we got extremely confused about where to go as they had not put any sign board after the turn from the main road. And there roads were bad with huge rocks in the middle. We found the road from a neighbor after we went on the wrong roads twice which also had an episode of almost hitting the undersurface of our car on a large rock which we could have completely avoided if the management cared to put up a sign. Thanks to my dads years of driving our car didnt suffer any major damage. When we finally get there there were no one to greet us from the car park right to the reception. From our previous visit we knew that we had to climb a lot of stairs to get to the reception and since we didnt want to climb those stairs down we carried our luggage ourselves. Normally I never mind this but imagine that ur wearing a dress and carrying a suitcase.Even though we knew that the food was horrible from our years ago experience the reason we still went there is because we were mesmerized by the natural beauty it possessed. That time water was flowing down the stairs we climbed to reach the reception. This time that was not there.forget the water that flowed down the stairs even the ponds on either side were dried. Sri lanka is having less rain these days so obviously water sources have dried off. But Im sure the hotel management was perfectly capable of supplying water to those ponds. Horrible horrible management. Perfect example of how even a hotel with so much natural beauty could go wrong because of greedy management. It was very clear that they only cared about money. Friendly staff but the number was not enough. Receptionist did all the catering service. And there were a lot of multitaskers. Also the breakfast was horrible. I dont know how any cook add so much salt to all the food he cooks and still be called a cook. They probably had a salt company or something. So no need to worry abt any lack in salt so put salt into everything. Egg hoppers were basically tasteless if it werent for the salt though. If there were no salt we would have been mistaken for eating water. I tried hard to give this hotel at least 3 stars since I know how bad it is to get a bad review but this one is really bad. Will never visit this place even if it is the last hotel on earth.
