  Good value for money

  Strengths: 1. Very good location - 4 minutes drive from the center of Montespertoli. Great view, in the heart of the vineyard area of Toscana. The vila is situated in a excellent location for "star tours" for all the famous attractions in Tosacana, such as Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa etc.. 2. Good facilities: the flat includes a large bedroom, a big saloon, a kitchen, a wide balcony and a large bathroom. All very well equiped, clean and comfortable. Weaknesses: 1. Lack of flat TV screen. 2. Lack of cable's channels. 3. Not enough warm water. The current electrical heater is too small. 4. All the public facilities were not operating: the pool, the whirlpool, the restaurant and the pub. No prior explanations were given for that. 5. Check in time - too late (4pm). Check out time - too early (9am) 6. The owner/manager of the vila was seen in only 2 occasions: Check in and check out. In the middle (we stayed there for 7 days) we didn't have the chance to see or talk to her.

  Great place and great location in Tuscany

  We were there for a week and loved it. It was very clean. A bottle of wine and a bottle of water were waiting for us in the room. The view from the site is beautiful. If you are only two, there is a double comfortable bed. There is also another bed in the bed room (much softer) and a sofa in the living room. It is simple but all we needed. It doesn't include breakfast but there is a supermarket in the center of town, 5-10 mins away (by car). All the kitchen facilities are in the room (no microwave). Things to know: There are always hot water but it takes about 20 mins between showers to warm up. If you are there for more than a few days, you might need extra toilet papaer than in the room. The staff was very nice, friendly and informative. They also provide some information on the area in the rooms. All in all, we had a great time there and will be happy to go back.

  Could have been perfect with a little care and attention

  The Holiday didn't start well. Admittedly we arrived tired and fed up after our flight was diverted, and the hire car was vandalised at a service station, but in any case, our first impressions of the flat were not good. Borgo Filicardo comprises of about 16 appartments in a fairly modern building, and then two housed in part of the wine factory/office building. We were put in one of those. As we opened the door, a strong musty and damp smell hit us - which after investigation proved to be due to an old damp problem in the hallway. The kitchen looked to be around 40 years old, and there were cobwebs hanging from every ceiling. In fact, the place had clearly not been spring-cleaned in years. Further searches revealed an ants' nest behind one bedside cabinet; a shower head which was so blocked with limescale it barely functioned, and severely clogged drains in both bathrooms. I phoned the duty manager to complain, who told me in no uncertain terms "Remember you are in rural Tuscany madame!" and told me if I had an issue, to complain to Odalys. He clearly wanted nothing to do with my concerns. Since it was 10pm on a Saturday in peak season, we realised we had no choice but to put up and shut up! The next day, in slightly more positive mood, and after a trip to the local Coop to buy cleaning materials, we saw the positive side of the residence: it's located in beautiful countryside, and is very child friendly, with clean pool, play area and free games. It is also within touching distance of Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano and the Garfagnana region. Nearest town of Montespertoli has amenities and is refreshingly untouristy. So, our next brush with the reception staff: Monday morning and we were about to leave for the day when a lady banged on the car window demanding our taxe de séjour. We paid up, but no smile, no attempt to ask us if we'd settled in well; in short, not the Customer service one would expect to receive from a Holiday residence. In fairness, we subsequently went into the office needing information, and various members of staff did then help us with courtesy. Maybe they realised that they needed to be a little more welcoming? I had the impression that this is a family run business which desperately needs to move with the times and invest, but that maybe their interests lie more with the wine business than the tourist accommodation? Such a shame, because with a good clean, more modern fixtures, and staff with a smile, this could be a really lovely place.

  Fabulous accomodation - beautiful setting

  Beautiful accommodation just a few minutes drive from the centre of Montespertoli.The apartment was spacious will all the amenities we needed. It had a fabulous balcony overlooking the Tuscan hills. The pool was a good size with plenty of loungers.

  Great place to stay not far for Firenze

  Visited on September 2018 for a week. Specious clean rooms with wonderful view and atmosphere. Outside pool, vineyard. Good location for start tripping Tuscany. Enjoyed our stay very much. Will come back if in the area again. Highly recommended.
