High teaVisited yesterday for a high tea and really enjoyed it. As well as being excellent value for money. The scones were warm and tasted so lovely. The girls that served us were really nice and couldnt do enough for us. The only issue I had was sitting on big metal chairs outside and the cushions didnt fit making the chairs very uncomfortable. I will definitely be returning in the not so distant future to try a Sunday roast or evening meal.

Maybe they have forgotten how to run a Hotel after the shut downPerhaps I am being a bit generous with the overall rating. I have taken time to write this review rather than fire off as soon as I was back home. Take care when approaching as it is easy to drive past. The hotel is set back from the road with no direction signs. First impression are impressive as the hotel has well kept gardens, mown lawns and planters full of flowers. This soon changes in reception where the welcome was not warm. I always thought that day one lesson one at hospitality school was to smile at the guests. Evidently not true. I have had a nicer welcome from the most humble B and B as they would be glad for your custom. Then to the room out the back by the car park, in The Pavilion. A three story accommodation block with a beauty centre. Looking a bit tired after 20 plus years. Take care as the roof leaks and the floor will be slippy in wet weather. Good point. The lift was large enough for a mobility scooter. The adapted room was large too. Plenty of maneuvering space. The bathroom was adapted for the less able. Well positioned rails etc. Easy access WiFi Not so good points. Both extractors fans in the bathroom didn't work. Far more important was the lack of hot water in the basin. Probably the most basic requirement for a hotel room. I eventually solved this by unhooking the shower head and filling basin from there. Unfortunately the distress call system in the bathroom was missing Both the mixer taps, on the bath and the shower were broken. So real care had to be taken as the hot water was HOT. As the sign said. We were not allocated the complimentary dressing gowns. No bath mat. The shower did get the bathroom tiles wet and slippery. So I used one of the towels. The room was a bit dark. It would have been nice to have the second bed side light that was missing There was an odd shadow on the wall were something has been positioned, two screws still sticking out. It showed how the décor has faded with time. The print in the picture frame had slipped, lots of white above the sky. Smart little coffee machine but no grounds to charge it with. Luckily one of the cleaning staff found a few sachets, most kind. Difficult to get fresh air. You either had the sliding patio door open, with full access, maybe not a good security option at night. Or it was closed and you had to rely on a trickle vent in the top of the door. Insufficient. No laundry bag. All hotel information was now on the TV. Difficult, as there were no instructions to look at the tv in the first place. Unsurprisingly the Fire Door was jammed open with a metal plate. Never good to skimp on fire safety. Cateringuntested. An emergency menu in place for the virus time. So on balance: Value for money: poor Would we go back: in extremis if nothing else was available Did what it said on the can:just Star rating: Maybe 4 as it ticked the boxes but lost the plot somewhere

Couldn't ask for moreWe arrived as part of a small coach party and we were impressed by the entrance to the hotel grounds. We were informed that the the main hotel was closed but we were allocated rooms in the Pavilion and greeted by the manager who explained all the Co-Vid regulations. The staff all wore face shields and were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was well furnished and very well equipped including Tea and Coffee making facilities plus Biscuits. There was a trouser press, iron, hair dryer and TV. The bed was a great size and extremely comfortable, the only poor point was the decoration that was showing its age with edges of wallpaper lifting. The room was very clean and included having a small balcony which had a table and two chairs and a lovely view. We accepted the fact that things would not be perfect at this time but to pick faults would have been wrong, so we would stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone.

Really niceCame to this hotel with leons as part of downtown abbey tour Greeted on arrival given our key and off to our room.the room is very nice lots and lots of storage very comfy beds and pillow bathroom good if a little old fashioned but it add to the charm of the room .breakfast is very good with, excellent portions . Service is a little slow but in these times staff levels are probably not full . Evening meals are again very good the Turkey one night was absolutely delicious and a lot of it .all the staff members are very friendly and can't do enough for you .so all in all a great stay well done to all especially in these uncertain times thank you
