  Don't stay here and tell others

  Oh so disappointed. This was a treat away for my Mother's birthday. On arrival the property was overrun with weeds - a clear sign the owners don't give a damn, but just want to take your money. I knew the units were on the older side of life, but I expected them to be clean and tidy and the property to be presentable. I also expected to have a consistently hot shower. This terrible experience really created a poor experience of Kaikoura. Shame on you Blue Seas Motel. The only plus was that the weather was nice and we could spend as little time there as possible.

  So Sub Standard-Give it a miss

  Many motels I tried to book said that they were full,walking down the street the same places had signs with specials for that night,hopeless.l do not understand how people think that they get value for money at this sub standard motel,we paid $159 for one night,we were robbed,they didnt say that they offered a discount for Gold Card,we sure dont look under 65,I think they are just not interested in providing an pleasant service to the travelling person,the office person who gave the impression that he was the manager,said nothing just puts the fee amount into the visa machine,overpriced at $159 gives me a little bottle of milk the key and go find the motel yourself,never again just dont stay here,give it a miss.It was clean but so so old,the shower was hopeless,there was just nothing nice about the whole experience of staying at this run down accommodation.

  Comfortable and close to the sea

  We stayed two nights. The unit was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly. It was a real treat to be so close to the sea that we could hear the waves at night and wander over to have morning coffee by the sea. Being at the pier end of the beachfront means it is quieter than some closer to the retail area but everything is still close. Would be very happy to stay again

  Comfortable but tired

  We arrived a bit before 2.00pm but the person who answered the bell in the office told us to come back as we were too early( there was another couple behind us as well). Not a great welcome! We came back an hour later and our room was comfortable and clean and the bed was comfortable but the room was tired and in need of refurbishment. This motel is well situated across the road from the sea front and with good views of the bay. The redeeming feature was the large continental breakfast provided, delivered to our unit the night before.

  Very tired but cheap and quiet

  This place is cheap for Kaikoura. $110 a night. So do not expect much. The grounds are very unkempt. Lots of weeds and leaves. Not had much maintenance at all. Same with the unit. Clean enough but lots of carpet stains, peeling paint, chipped and knocked about. Bed is comfy enough and place looks clean. Did not expect much judging from the outside and that's what we got. We are only here to sleep for one night so don't need anything more. Yes I would stay again but its not worth a cent more than the $110.
