Good Quality, Excellent Service, So-So LocationThe Blue Pearl is located near the Han River in downtown Seoul. It is, however, a huge city and the hotel isn't near any major attractions. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the setting is a rather generic concrete jungle with a few restaurants nearby but not a lot to choose from. Be prepared to do some walking. The nearest subway stop is a brisk fifteen-minute walk ... not that this is a major burden but there isn't much of interest on the way. The rooms could be equated with a Hilton in the US, comfortable, efficient and clean - no more, no less. I was on the 8th floor so it was sufficiently quiet. The rate included breakfast buffet. This consisted of the usual fare - sausages of mysterious origin, bright yellowish-orange eggs - but also an assortment of Asian specialties (boiled quail eggs, rice, seafood soup, pickled salad, congee). I had dinner twice and the food was fairly good, though not really memorable. I opted for Korean cuisine though about half the choices were Western (pasta, seafood). The service excellent, from the waitresses in the restaurant to the desk staff who helped me book a tour to the DMZ (though I was told by other sources that none were available due to the nuclear conference) and arranged a shuttle to the airport. Basically, I have no complaint other than the generic, lackluster location. All in all, pretty satisfied.

Don't judge from the appearance. Most importantly is the room.At first glance, I thought this is just an ordinary hotel with average room but...... Wait till you enter the room. The Lobby was a bit small. The check in for our group of 11 was very efficient, of course with the help from our Korean tour guide. Initially I tough from the look of the small lobby, the room will be poor but as I enter the room, I was amazed. Very clean and nice. The room was average size but bigger than I first though because I know Korean & Japanese hotels are all very small unless the expensive one. The room even has a computer with Internet access! The only problem is they are in Korean language but one can always search for English sites. The bathroom was quite big with jacuzzi ! How lovely because after whole day on the plane, at last I can have a nice bath. Better still, the toilet comes with the automatic (I don't know what it calls) but "bum washing, heating, drying and even odour remover! Fully automatic. I saw this kind of gadget before when i was sarching for a new house. I thought it was a waste of money but now i have a chance to try it.... really nice, clean and very efficient. Tea coffee provided, fridge, flat screen TV all pretty standard but the best is the bed. Very comfortable. We stayed there for 3 nights but I guess if I have to stay there for the whole week, I will never complain. I met one of the cleaning lady one morning and she smiled and greeted me. This is what I call friendliness. Even the cleaning lady can make you feel at home. I will definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Korea again next time.

No Human Touch but a Good Hotel after allI had read mixed critics about this hotel and decided after all to go for it particularly because of its good price. At first, when we arrived in Seoul from Bangkok at 9 am in the hotel lobby, I felt like we had landed on the other side of the border. The lady at the reception desk did not give us a smile and told us abruptly that check-in time was 2 pm, un-negotiable, well, that was what I understood since she did not speak one word of English and kept on repeating 2 pm...We then went for a walk to discover that the neighborhood was really great. The hotel is in fact located between a very large avenue and a small street. The large avenue is bigger than NY avenues (10 lanes) and a busy traffic artery. The street at the back is very, very nice. It is a good neighborhood with small shops, cafés and restaurants. There is always a good atmosphere in this street from morning till night time. There is even a great restaurant and bar which is opened 20 hours a day and seems to be a popular place for the wealthy youth to go to even late at night with valet parking and great food choice. We finally got to our room which was, as expected, large, very cleaned and very comfortable. We spent 4 nights there and really enjoyed it. The reception area is of course dark and not animated but this hotel is definitely a good choice to visit the town. Taxi fare to the busiest part of town on the other side of the river is around US$ 10 and taxis are easy to find or to call from reception. From the Airport take bus 6010 to Hotel Prima (US$15) and the hotel is 3 mn walk across the street. The return fare was only US $10. Tickets car be purchased at the reception of hotel Prima and the bus stop is accross from Hotel Prima on the same side as the Hotel Blue Pearl. There is a bus every 20 mn. We would definitely go for this hotel on our next visit.

SPRING BREAK IN SEOULThe Hotel's located in a business district and walking distance to authentic korean resto. Convenience store was just behind the Hotel. It's about 3-4 blocks away from Branded Boutiques also. We got the perfect view of the city, it was very nice to watch especially at night... don't worry you can't here sound's of cars outside. Our room's on the 3rd floor, water dispenser was just outside down the aisle which I appreciate very much. Our bed was so soft, clean and smell's really good. The bathroom's and fixture was superb... We've got flat screen tv and PC in room with fast internet connections. Our Breakfast was very good, preparations was really nice and all tastes wonderful.. BUT... they have to improve the way to refill the food on the Buffet table as fast as they can... every morning guests filled up on line waiting for food to be served.. some of us just leave without having their breakfast because we have tour schedules to catch... I think, the Management should assign more staff during breakfast or every meal time just to eliminate the scenario..

Good location, Good roomsHotel Blue Pearl is well situated near the business center of Seoul. you can get to Coex Mall and conference center on foot (15 minutes) or by taxi (3 minutes, about 2 US$). There's also a Metro station not far away (I'm not good with korean names, I guess it was cheongdong). The hotel lobby is very small, so is the breakfast area. The breakfast is limited to the most basics. The rooms were good. Very clean. There was a bath tub in the room that was really good to sink in after a full day of business talks. There was also free tea and coffee with a coffee maker in the room. There was supposed to be Iron and Iron Pad in the room but it wasn't. I asked for it, they brought it but took it away the next day. A colleagues room lacked the safe. Overall : The hotel was good and it was a pleasant stay. But nothing special.
