Stay at Blue Door CottagesCottages were nice, clean and comfortable. As I drove around town, definitely one of the nicest placed. Pool was clean, grounds kept up. Manager was accommodating and friendly. Close to Indiana Beach and the water. Would definitely recommend!

Blue Door CottagesWe stayed at the Blue Door Cottages a couple weeks ago, First of I would give 5 stars for Brent the manager. The bathroom was full of bugs and cobwebs in the corners which we had to clean. The pillow case was nasty dirty! Thankfully I took some of our own bedding along but with the start of a dirty pillow I did not sleep good at all, The cottage is decorated cute but just needs someone that cleans good. The bathroom is very small and the bathroom sink water comes out iron water and stains the sink. The cottage is not on a lake but across the street from the River. The River at times smells, depending on the direction of the wind. People park in the Blue Door Cottages from the restaurant across the street therefore blocking the view of the water.

Don't stay in winterMy wife and 3 kids are seasoned travelers for vacations and visiting family members. We've had positive experiences in the Midwest renting small houses, so we wanted to support a local business and expected a similar experience with Blue Door Cottages, but our stay was very disappointing. Our room was about 55 degrees inside and never could get much warmer all night, even with the provided space heater. The wall heat/A/C unit was loud, so we had trouble sleeping. The Wi-Fi was worthless, couldn't even load a simple news website. The TV remote had no batteries. There was no coffee or tea available. We will not stay here again.

quaintIt's a small, quaint, and friendly "resort". The people who run the day to day are easy to reach and more then friendly. The cottage was as expected. It is small, but big enough. The furniture isn't all that comfy, but was good enough. The decor was cute, and the kitchen had just enough. Bring a hair dryer, some comfy lawn chairs, and a fan to help circulate the air. The a/c is a window unit, which does cool the main rooms quite well, but not the bedrooms. The unit is also very loud. The pool was great. Its small, so it would not easy accommodate a large crowd. We brought floats and enjoyed the pool a lot. There is a restaurant, but it wasn't open during our visit, so we had to drive around 2 miles to get to a gas station or restaurant. There were several bugs inside and outside. They were drawn to the lights, and its summer on a lake, so that is the way it goes. My only complaint is that friends of maybe the owners, showed up at the pool. We paid quite a bit to have that available for our use, and a few people (very nice people) were able to just show up and use the pool. We ended up feeling chased out, Overall, it was very charming. Especially great for boaters.

Just as gross as when we stayed 6 years ago.Stayed in Studio 3. The place is just plain neglected. Same mold plus more in shower as before. Bathroom sink had only a small trickle, very small maybe a drip of water coming out. Used kitchen sink for shaving and tooth brushing. Floors were not clean. Scented plugins used to cover up musty smell. Horrible combination of smells on all of our clothing from that. Chair was Filthy. Room did have a flat screen television that was so small you couldnt see it from bed. The remote was dirty. I truly believe this place hasnt been deep cleaned since opening. I saw no signs of any Covid 19 precautions other than the unattended self check in. It could be nice again if the owners did some much needed simple maintenance.
