  Spotless

  Just returned from a weekend break at the Blacksmiths Arms, we had room 7 with the four poster bed, the room was spacious and very clean the bed was a good size and extremely comfortable. Our arrival was greeted by Tony the Landlord who made us feel very welcome, the breakfast was tasty hot and delicious with a varied menu so everything was available so to speak. We ate at the restaurant and had more delicious food, Tony and his staff run a tight ship, the whole place was spotless, very friendly and helpful. Top marks

  Dont judge a book but its cover!

  Looking at the Blacksmiths Arms from the outside and when you walk in you may not expect the gem that it is. Booked a table of 6 adults and two children and no one was disappointed in the food. Piping hot, delicious and served with a smile. The staff are excellent, friendly and attentive to all your needs. The menu is good and has a lot of options for all the family as well as a childrens menu on offer. We had a good selection of the menu and there wasnt a single poor dish. Yorkshire pudding starter was amazing and plentiful, the garlic mushrooms were tasty but the Barnsley Lamb Chop was the standout meal for me. Perfectly cooked to my liking served with a brilliant selection of seasonal vegetables and chips. Also the standout dessert was the Salted Caramel cheesecake. Also reasonably priced, should have been £208 for 5 starters, 6 adult mains, 2 childrens mains, 3 adult desserts and 2 child desserts with drinks however we visited during the Eat Out to Help Out offer so the bill was only £128. Due to this a sizeable tip was left as this restaurant, its waiting, bar and kitchen staff fully deserve. If ever back in Cloughton will definitely visit again.

  Lovely pub - and the Queen has visited!

  We had no idea what a gem awaited us when we booked two nights at The Blacksmiths in mid-September. We were due to be in Spain... What a revelation! Rooms were small but spotless (we had one of the 'cottages' on the carpark and our friends were inside the pub) and had everything we needed in them, including tea/coffee. The food was lovely - I had been worried by the 'chips with everything' menu but there was no pervading smell of chips and they were really good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful - although perhaps a bit over-worked as the place was busy, even midweek. Special mention to Leigh who was good-humoured throughout and made us laugh, despite being run off her feet at times. (Note to owner - make sure you keep her on, and she probably deserves a pay rise!) All-in-all, a really lovely couple of nights in a part of the country we didn't know at all well. I think we'll be returning - lockdowns permitting!

  Spotlessly clean and good food!

  My wife and I stayed here just for one night. We were soon booked in to our room, the room (like everywhere else in the place) was spotlessly clean and it was a good size with comfy bed, shower room etc. Our evening meal and breakfast were delicious, wed go back there without question.

  Excellent property, gorgeous accommodation and excellent food

  We arrived cold and wet having walked along the Cleveland Way from Robin Hoods Bay. The room was warm and comfortable with a bath and plenty of hot water. The food at dinner time and breakfast was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Would visit again.
