Fantastic location with river viewBeautiful location next to the river (Liddel Water). Modern design building with guest rooms opening onto a shared conservatory type lounge area with log stove so great for relaxing in winter. Outside there is plenty of seating areas and a gazebo next to the river so perfect for a summer stay. The owners Jayne and Micheal are lovely hosts, very helpful and friendly. The room we had was very comfortable with on suite bathroom and shower. The traditional English (or should I say Scottish) breakfast looked fantastic but I went for the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs...yum. The location is excellent for Kielder Water area. We would love to return in the summer and sit outside or in the winter and cosy up by the log stove.

Last minute New Years Eve stayMy wife (Storm) and I had a lovely stay with Michael and Jayne. We made a very impulsive decision to go up to Newcastleton on New Years Eve in order to stargaze nearby. This was the only location in the country that was forecast to have clear skies. So, even though it was a 5 1/2hr drive and it was very late notice and it was New Years Eve, we called Michael to check for availability. In all honesty, he did seem very surprised to be taking a reservation so late on such a day but he quickly realised it wasnt a prank and was extremely helpful. Once we had made it up to them, they were very welcoming and Michael even set up his own telescope so that we could observe the moon before it set. The lodgings were beautiful and exactly as seen in the images, with a very homely, clean and cosy room and lounge area. This also had a lovely view of the beautiful surroundings of the property, including the river below and the hills into the distance. After an extremely successful evening of stargazing, my wife and I took advice from our hosts and headed into the village to watch in the new year listening to bagpipes and sipping baileys hot chocolate. Although brief, it gave a sense of a really warm community and was a privilege to witness. The following morning we were greeted with a sumptuous breakfast with everything you could hope to wish for, from fresh Scottish salmon, fruit salad, cereal and a large choice of cooked offerings...the list goes on. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay with Michael and Jayne in this beautiful part of the country and we will definitely call on their hospitality again when we are next visiting the area. Thankyou Michael and Jayne, see you some time in the future

Spectacular riverside setting with friendly hostsJayne and Michael welcomed us warmly to their spectacular home overlooking the river. Honestly, we couldn't fault anything. The place was spotlessly clean and the hosts were super helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was fabulous with the best sausage I've ever tasted! We will definitely return.

The Star of the BorderlandsWe stayed here for a night on our way further south. We wish wed cancelled the rest of the trip and just stayed with Michael and Jayne! The room was immaculate and very well appointed. The bed was super comfy - its hard not to sleep like a log when you can hear the river from your window - and the room was cosy and warm. We had a glass of wine and enjoyed the sunset from the pagoda before retiring to the lounge in front of the wood fire. In the morning, breakfast was something else! Prepared with artesanal local products, it was such a treat. As an Aussie and Colombian, were tough converts to pork sausages but along with the black pudding and haggis - weve been won over. The smoked salmon house specialty was similarly to die for. After a good chat and laugh with Michael and Jayne, they had us full bottled on local sites and eateries and we spent the next few days exploring and getting through all their advice. Well be back to the Borderlands just to stay here. Thanks Michael and Jayne for your hospitality and care. Un fuerte abrazo!
