  Christmassy overnight stay

  Great location, beautiful building , fabulous roomy room ( no 1), the quality of the hotel was obvious as soon as you walked through the door, excellent food ( dinner and breakfast) helpful and friendly staff. The indoor and outdoor pools were perfect.. as were the Christmas decorations . We will return

  Excellent evening!

  A fantastic evening enjoyed at Bishopstrow hotel. A courtesy call received the evening before to confirm our attendance, which resulted in adjusting our requirements to meet our expectations & experience. We booked the conservatory for private dining, which was idyllic. We were greeted at the door and shown straight to our table (after sanitising our hands) - the service was instantly exceptional. The staff all adhering to the implemented measures. A great selection of drinks and superb variety of food across the menu. With ingredient adjustments offered if required. All meals ordered were devoured with not a crumb left, desert included. We were all exhilarated with our evening. To be able to go out and enjoy ourselves before Christmas has been wonderful. We have already discussed a return next month. Sending thanks to all at Bishopstrow. Merry Christmas to you all & heres hoping for a much better year for 2021.

  Disappointed

  We stayed 10-12th December and sent the hotel an email with feedback on 15th December...have still not received even an acknowledgement. Spa treatments were enjoyable but relaxation room was cold and shabby. In the hotel we often couldn't find staff to order a drink (you're not allowed to stand at the bar as per Covid regulations). The restaurant decor did not look like the photos on the website. If changes had been made due to space/tier two guidance, I think they should have been made more sensitively to the ambience of the room. We found it to be soulless with worn furniture and not welcoming at all. I notice another recent reviewer likened it to a canteen - spot on! Food at dinner was good but service not great. Breakfast was so disappointing! What's described on the menu isn't what arrives - "sourdough" was a slice of normal brown loaf, the cold meats and cheeses were a couple of slices of packet cheese squares and one and a half slices of packet ham. Guess they're trying to save money? Thing is - on check out we discover they add a compulsory service charge to everything, that is not mentioned any where. I understand the hotel industry has had a tough year but they shouldn't be overcharging people for the service etc they provide.

  Completely underwhelmed

  We stayed here for our Anniversary it seemed exciting to be upgraded to duplex suite. The building is beautiful. Our room was tired mfi brown wood cube furniture which was marked and scratched. The bathroom the loo seat didnt fit, the bath and basin leaked onto the floor the shower was broken. The dining room which in such a beautiful building should have been gracious was more like a canteen. It could be a stunning hotel but its tired. We actually went with secret escapes but the suits are usually just under £500 this would have been dreadful.

  Spa day with massage and lunch

  had a wonderful , relaxing day - the staff were so friendly especially Poppy(the manager) and Beth who gave me a massage. I then had finger bites in the lounge which were delicious. Roaring fire in background. Would recommend it.
