Long wait at reception and no hot breakfast!

We stayed at Bisham Abbey on 20th of April. Arrived at about 16.00 to find that there were lots of people waiting to check in and no one was manning reception. The room was OK, simple but clean. However, when we went down to have breakfast the following day, we were told that there was no hot food as its Easter, which would have been fine, if we didn't pay for cooked breakfast when we booked accommodation. Didn't they know at that time that it was Easter? Wrote two e-mails to Hotel, but never got a reply.

    Beautiful Abbey

Visiting here on a conference with work and initially only seen the modern sports facilities and hotel at the entrance. Just behind it is the beautiful Abbey with many original features and charm on the banks of the river.

    Not impressed

Spent two night and wasn't impressed. Room was very cold on arrival don't know why the heating was off. Breakfast was okay. Room was not cleaned the following day. Would not recommend for more than one night.

    Really disapointing

I joined with an annual membership and have found the whole experience very dis-satisfying. The reception staff seem indifferent to customers - like they are an annoyance and the the induction was very third rate. No understanding of how the App worked - that apparently needed someone else to explain how it worked, no enthusiasm shown at all - rather like they just couldn't be bothered. Some of the equipment is faulty. So my view is next time I'll join anothe gym!

    Poor!

We live in Cornwall and stayed here for two nights as were in the area for a funeral. Its a strange place! Obviously its prime reason is for sports people and maybe it should stick to that. On check in at 4pm the receptionist wasnt sure if our room was ready as theyd had a rugby team staying! So we had to hang around while she sent someone to check. It was ready. Im not sure why we were given a disabled room but thats what we got. The room was tired and the bathroom/wet room most unappealing. There were two bottles of shampoo - one half used and one body lotion. No soap to wash your hands with though. Just ideal with the Coronavirus on the up!! The TV is tiny so good luck if youre short sighted like me. The bed was two 3ft singles zipped together which was fine and nice and big and fairly comfortable as were the pillows. However the duvet was for a king size. I did ask at reception for a super king replacement but of course that wasnt possible. All the doors to the rooms bang loudly on closing. The tea tray is ok but the cups (on saucers) are tiny. We asked the night reception guy for mugs and he got us some from the kitchen. He also got us some wine glasses for the wine wed bought for the room. There were no glasses at all in the room - 2 small bottles of water are provided. The fight against plastic hasnt reached this place yet - plastic disposable spoons on the tea and coffee tray! Why?? Now for breakfast! Canteen style. Tables are all in long rows seating about 10 on each. A buffet hot breakfast was served by a chap behind the counter. It wasnt bad although scrambled eggs were more like a gone wrong omelette. Toaster actually toasted which made a nice change. Cheeses and cold meats available although I thought slices of roast beef were a strange addition! Fresh fruit available too. You can help yourself to juice - and you have to use a plastic cup! Dreadful. And the coffee machines were out of order. So I wouldnt stay here again. I think its worth paying a bit more for the Premier Inn in Marlow. Our room was £153 for the 2 nights which is actually good for the area. Not worth that much in my opinion though. More hostel than hotel accommodation.
