    Comfortable and cosy hotel

It is my first trip to Chiang Mai with my family and we chose to stay at Big Tree. The location is good as it is very accessible to many places in the old city. it is also within walking distance to Sunday night market, Tikky cafe (excellent place for lunch) and Chang Puak Market (old city north city). The rooms are spacious with four post bed (lovely ambience), fridge, long table and small balcony where you can sit to enjoy afternoon tea. The shower is huge and it is tastefully decorated. One setback is the WIFI is inconsistent - we have to call the reception to check or reset the WIFI for our rooms. Also, the pressure of the shower can drop anytime especially the adjourning room is also showering. Next, the TV channels are mainly thai, which none of us are able to understand. Do note to ask for higher floor as the rooms are facing the street and the traffic sound may affect you in the night. Some of the room doors has problem opening and closing - do check with the reception and request for a well functioning one. The staff are friendly and helpful. They seem to be a family business and customer-oriented. They also run a local tour service for tourists. The hotel provides laundry service - 80 B for 1 kg. I would recommend you to look around the old city for other laundry service as some shops offer 30 B for 1 kg. The breakfast serves from 7 am to 10 am. The range is limited but sufficient. You can order omelette with the choice of cheese, onion, ham and a top up of bacon, ham or sausage. Overall, our stay at Big Tree has been enjoyable and comfortable. Not bad for 5 nights stay and I would recommend it to anyone who are going to Chiang Mai.

    Simple but everything you need.

The hotel decor is really very pretty. It is in a great location on the edge of Old Town, opposite a beautiful wat. The staff were all lovely and helpful. Breakfast was simple but good quality. Not the quietest spot due to the road but not too noisy. WiFi is quite patchy but the girl on front desk was very happy to reset it if we were having an issue with it. All things considered I would be happy to stay there again.

    Ok hotel

This was a hotel we had booked in a hurry. It was ok. We have stayed in better 3 star hotels. The location was good for some of the temples but the atmospheric night market area and tha Phae Gate was a good 30-40 mins walk although you could get the songthaeu. It was quite noisy from the road noise and doors closing in the hotel. WiFi was bad and very intermittent. Bathroom was nice and big but the big shower head wasnt working and warm water was bad. You either got scaldingly hot water or cold and pressure dropped a lot. Staff were not that friendly but that could be because of the language barrier. They were helpful though when we bought our own fruit and they kindly cut it for us for breakfast. But this was our experience and everyones expectations are different.

    Amazing Stay

Big Tree or Ritz Old Town was a good find. They are located at the other side of Old Town which is fine with us since we like to walk and we didn't want to be in the crowded area. Breakfast was simple, but it was good and fulfilling. We were put in on the 4th floor, but we didn't mind since they have an elevator. The room was pretty spacious as well as their bathroom and we also had a balcony. It was really quiet at night and they have a blackout curtain which was great and we always have a goodnight's sleep. The staff was super friendly and always smiling. I will definitely stay here again and recommend this to our family and friends.
