OK stayWe spent a night here and it was OK. The rooms were nice but could do with a update. The staff were friendly enough. The only thing we can't get our head round is the automatic light in the bathroom that takes about 15 minutes to turn off - what happens if you need to get up in the night, the light then takes forever to turn off and disrupts your sleep which is exactly what happened to us!!

ShabbyThe staff are nice enough but even superior room was tired and shabby. Paint flaking off the walls and in need of a complete redecoration. The website pictures are utterly misleading. There are better options elsewhere for similar price.

Double charged for the room. Disgraceful attitude towards their customers.I booked a room via hotels.com for £81. On arrival they said they'd not had the money from the company so took my card details as guarantee. This was a big mistake. Today (a month after my stay) the hotel took £50 from my account WITHOUT my permission. This is verging on being fraudulent. There was no notice or explanation. I called the hotel who explained that they were struggling to get the money from hotels.com so have taken it from me instead. Best Western choose to be in partnership with the likes of hotels.com. I have paid for the room. If BW are struggling to get the money from hotels.com then that is something for the two companies to discuss, not an opportunity to double charge a customer having not gained permission nevermind having the decency to speak to me first. It's a disgrace. I will be contacting my bank to investigate. Michael

Excellent excellentMyself and husband have just returned from The priory after enjoying an excellent afternoon tea. From the moment we stepped through the doors, until we left later, we were treated with such kindness and hospitality. Lovely Sophie looked after us throughout our delicious experience. Attentive, and making sure if we needed anything she was on hand. Huge thanks Sophie, you are an absolute asset to the hotel x The afternoon tea itself was delicious and plentiful, and we were seated in the delightful Christmassy restaurant, with twinkling fairylights and decorated Christmas trees. Even some quietly playing Christmas songs in the background to set the Christmassy scene whilst enjoying our tea, overlooking the hotels gardens. What a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon just before Christmas, and we must admit, it was just the right tonic we needed after the past horrible year weve all been through. Thank you Sophie and all the team so much for making the start of the season so lovely. We greatly appreciated our smashing visit. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a much brighter New Year 2021. Karen and Steve x
