No value for money in a run-down placeStayed there one night in October 2013, arriving close to midnight. The first room I was given on the 20th floor (small living room plus bedroom) had its bedroom carpet covered with red, blue, green and yellow interlinking rubber foam squares (!) you find in kindergardens. Those squares where visibly dirty, even in the dim room light - I can only imagine what was crawling in the carpet below. I have never seen something like this before; I thought the room was under renovation! A work colleague who travelled with me could not open his room even after changing the room card and the duty manager needed several attempts to finally open it with his card. After complaining I was given a smaller room on the 12th floor. The carpet was borderline to filthy, the bed was clean and comfortable, the furniture was old with several cigarette burn marks (it was a non-smoking room). The toilet had a strong urine smell and I would have moved to another hotel if it was not past midnight already. Next morning I found long, black hair on the the toilet floor and clipped toenails on the room carpet. The breakfast on the 35th floor was not great but ok if you like Chinese breakfast. My colleague asked (in Chinese) for a second teabag for the teapot but was told he would only get one. Must be a rare commodity in this hotel. When we checked out, we strongly complained and got a RMB 200 (25%) reduction for each room from a friendly duty manageress which is actually the only reason I give this place 2 points and not the lowest rating. I honestly don't know how this run-down hotel maintains its 5 star rating and gets the other fancy plaques displayed in the lobby. At current the place should not charge more than RMB 400 per night. Certainly my first and last stay in this place.

Avoid at all costs.A good place to stay if you have no sense of smell. My nonsmoking room smelled of mold, sewage, and cigarettes. Wi-fi non functional. And generally run down, old, and in poor condition. And dirty. Writing this at 4 am because sleep is not possible.

Very good !Almost everything is good in this hotel. Rooms are large and nice, bathroom is very clean. Restaurant is one of the best I have ever been, with a large choice of food and an amazing view on the sea from the whole last floor. There are also many restaurants around where you can be within 2 mn walking. Also the beach is at 10 mn walking. But if you want to go in the city center it will be 20mn driving. Interesting facility is the interactive screen in the hall which gives you all needed informations on whatever (pubs, taxis, monuments, etc). Negative point is the level of English of employees, even those welcoming you, who will furthermore always give priority to Chinese people

terrible5 stars? worse than a normal 3 stars. It has been never renovated. The carpets, the bath,...ufff. there is a nice 360º view restauant in 35 floor. View is nice, food terrible (is a buffet where food was cold), the carpet is durty and has been there at least for 15 years. Trust me, is the worse hotel I have been in many years.

Avoid this place if possibleIt's hard for us to understand how this hotel has a cumulative rating of four out of five dots. Given that Kilin bills itself as a (five star?) fine institution, travelers need to know that this place is pretty run-down and not very pleasant. The carpets were dirty and had not been vacuumed in some time. The rooms smelled of smoke. Our window latch was broken and so it would not close. The breakfast on the 35th floor was cheap and skimpy. Every toilet we encountered was leaking water into the bowl (despite the drought in Shandong) and a staff member told us in so many words: What do you expect at a place like this? I've stayed at worse, but it's sad that the management so clearly just does not care about this hotel.
