Very Poor StayOn arrival the room we were given was unmade, not unacceptable due to current situation. We then had to be downgraded as there was no rooms available as per original booking. Second room had nails sticking out the wall, cover missing from thermostat, large crack by light. Very poor water pressure. The mattress was not particularly comfortable so had a very poor sleep. Room was next to main corridor door and the soft closure did not work very well so banged everytime somebody came in or out. We tried to get a meal in the restaurant but there was not enough staff on for what was a busy period, on arrival at the restaurant the barman informed us it would be at least 10mins before he could take our order, then he was busy running bar, waiting tables and taking room service orders so we left to find somewhere else. Overall very disappointing.

Dismal Stay. Avoid this hotelWriting this with Covid restrictions in mind it was unfortunately one of our worst stays. We visit at least 3 times a year in normal times. Made booking with breakfast included. Was not made clear on the online booking breakfast is a brown bag collected at reception and taken to your room, there is no excuse not to open the restaurant for table service breakfast other than cost savings. Nothing is opened until 6.00 pm so even as residents you cannot get anything. Walking to the Executive rooms you go through an unlit, cold bar area past 3 toilets with Out Of Order signs including one with criss cross checker tape. You then take a lift with 4 out of 6 light bulbs not working to a bedrooom with no bedside light and a switched off fridge! We requested a cleaning service as there for 2 nights. Came back in on Friday to the rubbish we put in the corridor still there and no service. On a positive note Camilla on reception was very helpful and as ever the Manager/ Server in Poachers on Thursday night was excellent. However the hotel has so few staff on duty it was just dismal. Stayed here so many times as Best Western when it was excellent, what a sad demise under Hilton.

Not recommended!Came here with my partner. Have previously stayed before. We were both shocked to see how much the hotel has gone down hill and this is not just due to Covid. It had new ownership a couple of years ago and they started a refurbishment project. They completed the downstairs bar/restaurant area, which was closed for our 3 day stay. The top two floors have had an attempt at refurbishing and we learnt the bottom two levels had had all furniture removed and the refurb plan halted months ago. Sadly our refurbished room was full of condensation and mould around the windows. It was a freezing cold room too when we arrived, as they had forgotten to turn on the heating. Our bed mattress had seen better days, as it sunk in the middle. The paintwork was tired. No soft closing toilet seat (what a shock we had!). The lack of double glazing and freezing draft from the window explained freezing temperature, mould and a lot of outside traffic noise. Also a lack of a proper bathroom fan made the bedroom very damp. A thick with dust vent was all that they had. Outside communal area had not been vacuumed in what looked like weeks. Cigarette stubs were witnessed. Bleach marks on the carpets and scraped doors. Breakfast was served via a collected brown paper bag (fair enough). There were very few guests staying. Such a shame to see what ince was a lovely hotel take such a massive decline.

Doing a good jobThis hotel and its staff are going the extra mile during the pandemic. I see the bad reviews on here and have to say this certainly hasnt been my experience especially for the rates being charged. Hollie on reception is always very accommodating as are the rest the staff, rooms are clean, restaurant serves decent food. We stay in this area every couple of months and make this our hotel of choice.

Just oldLovely entrance and dining experience. Very modern gym. We slept very badly through no fault of the hotel staff or anything. Just uncomfortable beds, radiator was VERY loud and boiling hot (we did get someone to turn it off for second night as we couldnt manage)!
