  NOT REALLY PET FRIENDLY - YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE YOUR ROOM

  I have stayed here a number of times and always had a pleasant stay and loved being able to bring my pets with me and not have to put them in a kennel. I have just called now to book a room for a night or two with my pets and was about to make a booking only to be told "you know you can't just leave the room with the dogs there, you have to stay in the room".... How is a single person supposed to get to the shops to get food? Am I not able to use the other amenities like the pool (which no doubt are built into the room cost) because I'm barred to the room? I'm not sure what happened since my last stay, when the ladies booking me in were giving me recommendations on where to eat and drink nearby, to now being told you have to essentially lock yourself in the room? You pay a premium of $50 to have the pets and I'm sure if any damage was incurred this would be charged to you, so I really don't understand or agree with this policy. Especially considering all common areas are tiled - what kind of damage can they do?

  Pet friendly and exceeded expectations

  Beautifully maintained townhouses, very clean and spacious. Great facilities and a short walk from the harbour. We took our cavoodle, he wasn't allowed on carpeted areas or furniture but that isn't really much of an issue, as the entire downstairs is tiled with a decent sized courtyard. Yes it costs slightly more to have him stay, but I would imagine hairier / smellier dogs increase the amount of cleaning needed. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

  Pet Friendly and easy 5 min walk to beautiful dog beach

  This was our first experience traveling with our 2 new Golden Retriever rescues so we weren't sure what to expect as the reviews vary greatly. We really loved our 2 bedroom, 1 level apartment (I believe it was #27). The furniture is a little dated but everything was spotless. We were next to the pool (which I thought would be very noisy,) but noise was not a problem. Reception staff (Margaret) was very friendly and helpful, with lots of useful local information. There was a decent sized yard to let the dogs out for a stretch, and the dog friendly beach is an easy 5 min walk, at the end of the street (beautiful as the sun sets). Our dogs loved it, especially at low tide when you can walk for miles (it seems). The apartment is great, but I took a point off because there was some dried dog poop left in the back yard that looks like it had been there for a while, and the outside dining table was covered in dust and tree debris (we didn't need to use that area so no big deal, but if we did want to use it, it would've needed a bit of cleaning). Otherwise, I would definitely recommend the Quarterdecks retreat for a holiday with your pups.

  DO NOT STAY HERE! APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

  I don't often write negative reviews but If I could give less than 1 star I would. This is easily the worst hotel stay my family has ever experienced. We booked the 3 bedroom deluxe villa to spend the weekend with our elderly grandparents over Christmas. The villa itself was nice and clean. The upstairs area was a bit hot with no fan or aircon in the communal TV area but other than that lovely. The first night my partner and I couldn't sleep because of a loud banging sound coming from the ceiling. My partner is a light sleeper and we also had our 18 week old baby with us. We had almost no sleep. The WiFi was also not working so we had no access to the internet. So we contacted reception the next morning. A lady named Carol came by to assist us. She was the rudest receptionist I've ever come across. She heard the noise coming from the ceiling and her response was "Oh, it's not that loud". I advised her that when it's happening every 2 minutes the entire night it is loud and we didnt sleep at all. She said that she may be able to get maintenance to come by and have a look but no guarantees. I mentioned again that my partner and my baby are both light sleepers. Her response again was "oh, it's not that loud". She clearly didn't care. We were obviously just bothering her and being dramatic. But trust me when I say it was actually very loud. I am not one to complain about nothing and she disregarded every concern I had. She also said that there had not been any complaints in the past and that the owners can't hear any noise. Just so many excuses. I asked if it couldn't be fixed what our options were because we had paid for a villa to sleep in and we were unable to sleep and my baby also couldn't sleep and she said there were no alternatives and we'd just had to deal with it. We had to consider moving a mattress onto the floor in the downstairs loungeroom at that point. When we asked about the WiFi not working she just said that $50 was on their statement showing the Wi-Fi had just been topped up. So we were offered no solution here either. Luckily, maintenance did turn up and he said it was a water pump from the air-conditioning unit making the noise. He apologised and fixed it. When we asked who to contact if the noise came back Carol's response was "if it's after 7pm dont contact me because I don't care" - I kid you not, that is exactly what she said. So maintenance gave us his direct contact number. I have to say it took everything in me not to say something to Carol then and there. When we asked to speak to the manager we were advised they were not available until after we were due to check-out. This woman clearly didn't care about our experience there. She just didn't want anyone to bother her. I'm sure she's perfectly nice if you dont need anything from her. She offered no solutions and just excuse after excuse. She also clearly doesn't care about the villas owners having repeat business. I would suggest that Quarterdecks looks at either retraining Carol in basic customer service or hires another receptionist. My family and I will not stay here again and I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. In fact, I will be telling everyone I know not to stay here. Worst hotel stay experience in my life!

  Traveling with the pooch

  I love that this is such nice accommodation for a place that accepts pets. Perfect little home stay while youre away. Fully equipped kitchen and laundry. You even have a garage to park your car in. I will say that the service could do with some improvement. A few communication issues but overall quite happy with our stay here an will return when back in Hervey Bay.
