What a dump ...From moment of arrival the place was totally depressing. Everything dark brown like a funeral directors. Even have cheek to describe selves as "An elegant manor' ! Even net curtains were brown ! Only bright point the friendly staff. Should have been totally refurbished 20 years ago. Never stayed anywhere like it before. Really odd experience ...

Didnt want to leave! We fell in love with the Pennine Manor, an amazing location with fantastic views. Our room was so warm and comfy, loved everything about it, it gives you a proper feeling of hygge. The restaurant was lovely, especially sitting by the open fire while Storm Dennis rattled the windows. The menu wasnt very extensive but acceptable. The bar was also really nice but a bit on the expensive side, £10 for a glass of wine and a pint of lager! The breakfast was amazing, they had everything, even prunes!! We will definitely be going back, it was such a beautiful place with a friendly relaxing atmosphere.

Avoid at all costsHaving stayed here just over 2 years ago, we decided to take up a Valentines offer on their facebook page for an overnight stay, 2 course meal, a bottle of Prosecco and breakfast, and paid for an upgraded room. We were really looking forward to the stay, 2 years ago we found the place to be lovely although a little tired but the food was fabulous and the staff were great. I cannot state enough how utterly disappointing our stay was this time. The upgraded 'superior' room was a joke, it was tired with paint peeling off the window sills and very cold. Bathroom had obviously been refurbished recently but the dirt around the bottom of the shower and on both shower heads was disgusting. To the point of if I had some other way of washing my hair, I wouldn't have had a shower at all! The bed was saggy and uncomfortable, the mattress is completely passed its best. Although the bedding was clean. Food was ok, we had a sandwich in the bar and it was made with very cheap bread-a supermarket loaf I think. The food at dinner was cooked very well but was very basic and slightly boring too. I have to say the guy who was running the bar the night we stayed was excellent and very polite. Breakfast was terrible. The butter had previously been used, there was no orange juice, only one member of front of house staff taking orders and clearing tables, the cleanliness again was disgusting. And the food was passable but not great, my husband didn't even finish his fry up! We complained at check out and it felt like the staff didn't even care. We also suggested they go up and check the cleanliness of the room and their restaurant. I think the management of this hotel are either in hiding or missing completely. I am amazed at the positive reviews of this place received just a day before our stay, as it is not a reflection of our stay at all. If I had done my research before booking, I would have found out that the hotel is actually in administration, which makes a lot of sense as to why some things were 'off the menu' and why the place was almost desolate at the beginning of half term. It is obvious to myself and my husband, who are both commercially savvy, that the staff and 'management' of this hotel are doing what they can to keep it going but ultimately it's the bare minimum and it shows. We sang the praises of this hotel 2 years ago and looked forward to being back but we were left feeling annoyed, disappointed and ripped off. As I booked it for a Valentines Break I feel like I let my husband down bringing him back to this hotel. This place is to be avoided at all costs.

Comfortable but very tired. Superb food thoughRoom 31 - no blind in bathroom and window overlooked busy car park. Mould in corners of bath and on wall tiles. Mould on shower screen. Broken wooden surround to bath panel with sharp edges that caught my foot - I have Diabetes and VERY vulnerable feet. Staff are excellent and the food is SUPERB!
