GoodI had a good time. It's nice room. Thanks bed is really hard thought or maybe because of my herniated discs its worse on my back. I also wish the tub was a littlw deeper so I could soak in it to help my back and the herniated discs. But the area is nice. The restraunt is nice with good food. It has a pool, it has wifi.

Sleepless in Best Western!Horrible place!Ice machine right outside our Hotel room.People getting ice until 4am!!A Herd of elephants right above us until early morning hours!A swarm of cops all over Hotel one hour after our arrival! Due to a shoplifting situation from an outsider.Guy trying to climb out Window when we arrived. Staff not monitoring people's time in pool so we never got to use it!Cold shower in morning! No I didn't call office because I was half out of it in the middle of the night however I did call mgr to let him know everything including being overcharged for my room the night I checked in! I still don't see charges fixed through my bank! Absolutely nothing was resolved in my complaint to Nelson. He repeats himself over and over though..ummm ok..Word to anyone thinking about staying here.RUN!!!!! Don't do it if you are looking for peace and quiet!!Motel 6 is better lol

Decent hotel despite a few issuesI was pleasantly surprised when I walked into El Grande Inn. The lobby leads into a cavernous, well-maintained common area that holds onto a 70s-80s era Spanish charm if you dig that sort of thing. I actually enjoy the brick red/brown color palette of that time, it gives off a warm and cozy vibe that makes me feel relaxed and at home. There are a small lounge areas with large, comfy couches and coffee tables in the hallways that I took advantage of when I wanted to zone out and on my phone for a bit outside of my room. The room itself is basic - theres enough space that you dont feel claustrophobic but its still fairly tight, at least the standard rooms. The bathroom itself is tiny, but theres a makeup mirror/hallway section right outside of it that helps. My biggest issue was that the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the mattresses are stiff (and I like a firm mattress) and pillows small and too soft. I did not have a comfortable nights sleep. On top of that, my room was located between the elevator and a staircase, and the double door to the staircase kept getting slammed at night and waking me up. It happened multiple times an hour until around 3AM. The hotel management needs to adjust the door so it doesnt slam, or lock it after a certain hour. During COVID the indoor swimming pool was available, but limited to one family at a time and it had to be reserved. We took advantage, and the hotel sanitized the facilities before letting us in, which was appreciated. The front desk person was not very friendly or helpful. We asked for extra blankets over the hotel phone and the response was we might not have any more blankets. First time I ever heard that from a hotel, and fortunately they did have extra. But in general she seemed annoyed to help us at all, even when checking in. Im also not sure why they charge as much as they do, considering the facilities themselves and the location. We paid around $165 total on a Friday night, on Saturday we drove to Napa and for the same price got a MUCH nicer hotel. Just makes you wonder. Extra stuff: Parking is free. They dont offer small cribs. If youre staying in Clearlake I would recommend this hotel, I just might bring my own pillow and would ask for a room away from the elevator and staircase.

Stay anywhere elseOver the past 4 years, I've occasionally been sent to work in Clearlake and my boss gets a room here for me to stay while I'm working nearby. There's not a lot of choices for hotels in the area, and this is supposed to be the best of them. UGH! I've witnessed the area around the hotel being frequented by more and more obvious drug addicts throughout that time. The last two times I've stayed here, I've had to report people smoking marijuana under the stairwell and breaking in through the window of a room on the ground floor. I've seen vagrants (homeless/addicts?) hanging out and sitting on the curb in the parking lot behind the hotel. Many times there are cars that look lived in or abandoned in the parking lot. All of this has me scared for my safety here, and concerned about parking my vehicle at the hotel. The staff at the hotel have never been the friendliest. I've often had problems with them not being able to find my prepaid reservation. All but one of those occasions was hotel or front desk issue. I've been assigned a non-smoking room that obviously reeked of cigarette smoke. I've gotten rooms with grease stains on the sheets and grime on the sink and luggage rack. Cleanliness is not high in the priority list here. I would never stay here by choice or in my free time. I'm considering refusing future work assignments in Clearlake just so I don't have to stay at Best Western El Grande Inn ever again. I hope you never have to stay here.

Horrible wish I could rate at a 0I have stayed here several times, but this times was the worst. During this pandemic they have signs on every door stating that you are required to wear a mask, fine whatever. So you would think that the room would be impeccably clean, you would be wrong. When I pulled back the comforter in our room the sheets had what appeared to be dog fur on them and some sort of brown/black crusty substance. I called the front desk and she apologized and switched us rooms. At that point I didnt trust any of the rooms to be clean. Then my kids wanted to use the pool, there was a sign up, one family in the pool area at a time and to see the front desk. The pool area was empty so my kids got their swimsuits on and we went to the front desk to ask to use the pool. She then told us we had to schedule a time slot to use the pool and that all slots for the rest of the night were full. My husband walked by the pool several times throughout the night and never saw anyone in the pool. Then there was the noise, doors slamming all night and early morning, a crackhead yelling in the parking lot at 4am that woke us up and 4 cop cars pulling up in the parking lot to shake down a couple of guys. One of my worst hotel experiences Ive ever had.
