  If you care about cleanliness, masks, and social distancing, don't go here.

  Employees have masks and there is a plexiglass screen at the check in desk. However, there is only one door in and out, and guests do not social distance or wear masks. We were expecting a room with direct outdoor access for our dog (that is what we were told we would get on the phone) but upon check in they did not have any available, and we had no choice but to go in and out of the main hotel. The room was dirty and had coins sprawled around on the carpet. This signaled that if they cleaned, they definitely did not vacuum. I expected more during this COVID pandemic and given what Best Western states are their policies for meeting high cleanliness standards on their website- and the price of the room. We cleaned the room with clorox wipes the best we could. Won't be staying here next time we come through town.

  Nicest Best Western in South Dakota

  This was our 3rd Best Western stay in South Dakota. This hotel was by far the nicest. The rooms are very clean and modern. The mother and daughter that manage the hotel take great pride in the place and it shows. All the staff are friendly and helpful.

  Boxelder bugs

  I usually hang my hat on TripAdvisor reviews, but this time I was let down! We went to check in and our room was on the second floor, I requested a ground level room, and we got one for 10 more dollars per night that was ok. The bathtub was not clean- but everything else was fine until we came back from dinner and had 2 Boxelder bugs in one of the beds. I didnt call the desk because we didnt want to change rooms or find another hotel. I mentioned this the next morning while checking out- but the hotel staff wasnt apologetic at all. Breakfast was fine. Guests didnt wear masks, and breakfast attendant had one but wore it under his nose.

  Walking distance to Downtown

  Clean nice hotel within walking distance to downtown and close to Lead, Deadwood, Sturgis and Rapid City. Lots of hiking trails near by. Even with COVID they provided breakfast (in a safe manner). Cute bar/lounge. We stay in Spearfish several times a year because we visit our son; never stayed here before; but will definitely be back.

  Great Motel

  We enjoyed a great stay at the Black HillsBest Western Lodge! Our room was clean and ready to us when we arrived an hour early. Beds are super comfortable & I loved that the gave each person 2 pillows:) Very reasonable price & we enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast in the morning!
