Unfortunately disappointingArrival Friday evening, check out Monday morning. Reasonably busy in the hotel. Great parking facilities, stated at £3/night but we werent charged. Room 306 wildbore which is supposedly a superior deluxe room was tired and dated but clean and pleasant furniture/style. Original parts of the building exceptional, beautiful even. Well worth a nosey. Breakfast was frankly horrible. Gluten free toast available but not gluten free cereals. We ordered scrambled eggs with poached haddock and smoked salmon respectively. Both were dry, plain, and contained egg shell. Neither of us finished it. We had to wait a ridiculously long time for coffee because the two waiting staff were incredibly slow and neither seemed to know what they were doing. Although they were both very sweet and friendly. It was only that fact that prevented an actual complaint to the management. Convenience was excellent for access to the town as the hotel is located on the high street. Asda and Lidl supermarkets only a five minute walk away. I also asked to borrow scissors which was no problem whatsoever, sounds amusing but believe me some places borrowing a basic item presents a huge challenge for some staff. Generally pleasant and extremely convenient but all in all disappointing.

Beautiful Historic HotelStayed for one night here. Dinner bed and breakfast package suspiciously cheap but on arrival was pleasantly surprised at the luxury of the place and also its history. Delicious 2 course meal in beamed dinning area. Comfortable night in large room with ensuite and lovely breakfast the next day. We couldn't fault it and would stay again.

Above average with a few changes needed!I stopped here over night while traveling with work. First impressions were nice, huge amount of car parking, nice court yard area and a warm welcoming reception area. My room was 108 in the court yard in house number 10. First impressions were of a fantastic amount of space with the room being big and airy, 2 nice sized sliding sash windows and a nice big en-suite shower room all being nice and clean - Excellent room so far.... BUT!! The noise you could hear from the room below was absolutely ridiculous. I mean you could here every word. The other noise which was to the extreme was when the room below put there water on or flushed the loo - Not good! For me this ruined what was a fantastic room for the money. Sound proofing the ceiling would be a good investment! I booked a table in the restaurant for 6.30pm and was shown to a table where my order was taken promptly and efficiently. I had pan seared chicken breast with Dauphinoise potato and a Rich Madeira sauce for £14.95 along with a cheese board at £6.50 for desert. The Chicken Breast didn't look very seared, with what were the worst Dauphinoise i'd ever had and the tiny bit of sauce was far from rich! This plate of food was very expensive for the money. The Cheese board was very nice but was served with fruity bread?? To be fair the waitress/bar girl who seemed to be doing everything swapped the bread for biscuits straightaway. The dining experience is good, spoiled massively by the annoying telephone ringing constantly to tell the waitress when orders were ready - really no need! The price of drink at the bar is pretty high which can be expected but didn't bother me as the pub pretty much next door served a great range of beers at £1.20 less per pint than the hotel... Breakfast was tip top, very good choice of cereals and fruit juices. The cooked breakfast choice was outstanding and nicely served..... But that telephone again :( Upon checking out I was not asked if I enjoyed my stay, nor was I asked if I had any problems. Had I been staying longer I would most likely of complained. On the whole a nice clean place for the money. I would probably stay again but would request a different room and also eat and drink away from the hotel. I did want to give 3 because of the restaurant meal, bar price and annoying bell but have noticed Bertie's Bistro has a separate TripAdvisor page and it would be unfair on the accommodation side so a 4 it is Could easily be a 5 with a bit of plumbing work and sound proofing.... Maybe give residents a slight discount on drinks to keep them in the bar too??

Excellent value and qualityCouldn't fault anything with this hotel. Very nice room, good shower, open Internet, towels big enough for a normal sized adult, nice toiletries, really good breakfast. Lovely friendly and helpful lady on reception/bar/breakfast duties. And excellent value as well.

Great stay.My husband and I stayed here at a very difficult time. The night we stayed was amidst the corona virus pandemic. It was whilst getting changed that night that we learned all the restaurants bars etc were closing that night. That said we had a great stay. The staff were all lovely and helpful, we even chatted to the night porter as we came in for our last drink at night and he was a lovely guy. Our room was beautiful. We did upgrade as it was reasonable. Fabulous four poster bed which was very comfortable. Large bathroom, lovely toiletries. Great selection of tea coffee and very nice biscuits. The room was very large. Breakfast next morning was freshly cooked and well presented. Even though the hotel was closing after we left service was still excellent from the girl who served the breakfast to the lady on reception. Even though they must have been worried about their jobs. I really wish them all well and will visit again in better circumstances as I'm sure we didn't get the true impression of Grantham.
