A Stately building which is now a Grand Hotel again. We stayed at this venue for four nights, with breakfasts each day and one dinner in Bistro Sociale. Having viewed the hotel operation over a reasonable period we felt that there were distinct pluses and areas with could be improved, but our overall rating is very good and we enjoyed our stay very much. We did feel that it was a home away for home as the staff exhibited friendliness and were eager to please - a very happy team. The strengths of the venue are its: - location not far from town centre , restaurants and next to the golf course. A good base for exploring the Southern Highlands. - the great refurbishment, and having used Berida Manor some years ago, mainly for organised Conferences, the building is now back to its old grandeau and is impressive internally. - the selection of artefacts is excellent and shows good taste. - the reception and breakfast staff offered a high standard of service. Lydia in reception, who seemed to be rostered on most afternoon shifts , was especially helpful. Thank you. - the booking person was most obliging in meeting our request for accommodation on the ground floor , because of my knee problems, and as we were aware of the stairs. - the residence is away from any main road and therefore is relatively quiet from traffic noise. - the king bed and pillows were very good and we slept well, and the water pressure and hot water availability was great. The areas which could require attention , and with the exception of the car park comment, are relatively minor observations: - the car park, which not only has pot holes but is inadequate for a full house, and the entry access road is only one way at a time. - WiFi reception was a little hit and miss - and is acknowledged not a Hotel problem, but is frustrating. - the room cleaning team maybe need more staff?, because for our room at least, was left until the last, probably because we were ongoing residents? The mini bar was not restocked over the four days. - room storage was inadequate for our four day stay and is a function of the room size we selected and paid for. I would advise anyone considering a four day or longer stay to only consider a suite configuration, which is certainly roomier. A separate review has been posted on TripAdvisor for Bistro Sociale. We recommend Berida Hotel for a lovely hotel experience of olde world charm and elegance.

Old world charm. Stylishly furnished. Excellent facilities but no lift.Unfortunately only stayed here for one night in late January in a deluxe King room on the first floor. I comment unfortunately as we did not allow sufficient time to take advantage of the Hotel's many facilities including the indoor heated pool, the day spa, the billiard room and the numerous little nooks and crannies where you could enjoy a drink in a quiet space. There was also an interesting Local Produce store and a large attractive bistro but we did not use either. Our very large room was on the first floor and was accessed by a stairway (23 steps) as there is no lift. The room was stylishly furnished with a King sized bed (very comfortable and extra pillows available) with bed side tables and lamps on either side of the bed, a two door wardrobe, a full sized stand alone mirror, two armchairs, a small coffee table, a chest of drawers upon which sat the flat screen TV and a writing desk with a chair and desk lamp. The bathroom was also reasonably large with a good sized vanity and a walk in shower (good pressure and no bath). The WIFI was included and worked well. I did not notice a safe. Both the room and bathroom were very clean. As indeed were the myriad of common areas. The only downside was a lack of power points particularly next to the bed. The lamp on one side of the bed was attached to an extension chord which was far too short and lead to a power point behind the bed. It was not possible to either reach the end of the extension chord or the power point without moving the bed to plug in essential medical equipment. There was free parking both at the front and rear of the Hotel which is conveniently located directly opposite the Bowral golf course and about a 15 minute, relatively flat, walk to the centre of town. Our room fronted a side garden and was very quiet. Staff at check in and check out where very pleasant and efficient. Would absolutely stay here again.

Very very nice hotelWe just came back from a stay and have to say it was excellent. Hotel has been restored to its original grandeur, and think they are still doing minor things but dont need to do much more. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and couldnt fault it. Service staff were great, the quality of the food and presentation excellent. You need to try the coconut margaritas. Breakfast the next morning was also very good, maybe a bit expensive, but food was good, we decided to eat at one of the many cafes the next morning. Rooms were great. We had a King Sofa room and plenty of space. TV perhaps could have been a bit bigger but now just trying to find fault. Location is also good, probably an 8-10 min walk into town. Would definitely stay there again.

Needs work. Cannot recommend. There are quite a few maintenance issues. A very badly worn out doormat gives you a very clear indication of what lies ahead inside. A small price to pay to create a good first impression. Curtains in room badly broken which is a detracting feature. Hotel very dark in parts. Aspect from bedroom windows not good. Overlooking old rooftops, air conditioners and ugly brick walls.. Driveways etc were poor with potholes. Drinks at bar a ridiculous problem with an extremely small amount of wine put in the glass. Two finger level in a glass of champagne. Not good enough. The staff at bar were not friendly either. As a result we dined in Bowral. The champagne was very average anyway. Many aspects of this establishment require immediate rectification. On the whole it was just ok. Could not recommend.
