Absolutely great with minor hitchesI was on a business trip at Tulbingerkogel for a whole week recently. First the pros: The hotel is family run and its a joy to stay here. The staff are friendly and try their level best to accommodate all your wishes. The owners personally speak to you at the hotel asking whether your experience is satisfactory. The food at this hotel is just fabulous. We used to have four courses for all our main meals and the menu was creative and clearly was reflective of the care the staff put into selecting it and presenting it. I would compare this easily to a Masterchef class without hesitation. The rooms though a little older are comfortable and would meet your satisfaction unless you are out looking for faults. The fitness center, the spa and swimming pool are great. The seminar rooms are well tended to and the food served during the breaks was well thought through and had variety and a wide range. The decor of the hotel is elegant and charming and demonstrates an eye for detail and is quiet but tasteful. The wine list is fabulous. The hotel provides ample free parking opportunity. The cons: The internet connectivity is a bit wonky and the owners were the first to admit that they are working on it. All in all, I would stay here agin for both business and for pleasure outings.

Extravagant treat option - with qualityThis is no bargain basement option, but does make for a treat as part of the holiday. It's at the top of one of the hills to the west of Vienna and has all the facilities you'd expect of a posh hotel. The staff are entirely at ease in English - and probably a number of other languages. They were willing to speak German, too, when we made the effort. The rooms are well appointed and elegant... there was a Big posh chocolate on each pillow when we arrived, which is a pleasing extra. The hotel will supply free transport to the nearest viable bus, but the easiest way into Vienna is to travel a bit further by car, to use a P&R from one of the western termini. The Vienna Card (individual Day Travelcard) gets you access to all the transport and some discounts. The surrounding countryside lends itself to walking, too. The menu is certainly not inexpensive, but the food is lovely - and there's a wonderful view out over the countryside (the Vienna Woods). An English version of the menu was readily available as soon as it was clear that one of our party was struggling with the German. Parking was not a problem.

Very niceWe came here for company offsite. I had no idea that place like this exists near Vienna. The hotel and the rooms are very nice. The views are just amazing. Food is good, not great. Breakfast small but nice. Service friendly. Its a family run hotel. Overall very nice experience and would definitely consider it for a relaxing couple of days get away

Fab hotel!I absolutely love this place. Food, rooms and service are amazing. Nothing is ever too much trouble and you have everything you need for a relaxing family break. Its about an hours drive outside Vienna, so you can day trip into the city if you wish, but to be honest in all the years I have been going there, the hotel and its location are so captivating youll rarely feel inclined to leave! Very family friendly, but also has old world charm. They recently revamped the restaurant menu, good mix of locally sourced food used in modern cuisine.

MagicalIn 27 years we thought that this wonderful place couldnt get any better! However we were there with my daughter and our grandchild. The family Blauel, Frank, Ingrid, Linda and Georg & Maria made us feel so welcome. The sundowners on the terrace, the morning swim in the pool, the excellent cuisine. The waiters were so attentive. I am looking forward to celebrating my 70th birthday next year in such a wonderful place. Mary Stephenson from Ireland and Gerhart Leipold from Austria
