Not RecommendedWe reserved a double room and a single room, we were given keys for two singles, so we had to go back to the desk. The rooms faced out toward the town, and the views were nice, but the rooms were plain, old-fashioned, and basic. The bathrooms appeared to be one piece prefab units that had been added to the rooms, and were small. The internet did not work, no elevator, the staff was indifferent. Breakfast was included and was ok. When we checked in, the staff encouraged us to go to the restaurant for their Noodle Buffet Dinner. It was really awful and we could hardly eat any of it. Not worth the money at all. And the waitresses made it clear that they could barely wait for us to leave so they could go home. There was parking on site, and it was quiet.

a nice Hotel , a Family operationBerghotel Steiger, Schneeberg, December 13, 2015 - a one night stay.. this Hotel is a family operated business and you are in good hands here. The Hotel was nicely decorated for the festive Christmas Season. It is sitting on a hill opposite Schneeberg with a great view over to this small city. We came here to visit the Christmas Market in the Erzgebirge. We were greeted in a friendly manner at the Front Desk, assigned to room No. 15 which has Twin Beds , pushed together, and a view over to Schneeberg. The furniture in the room is not the most modern one, but is acceptable, thats why the prices are lower here. The flat TV comes with a small screen by Thomson. The bathroom is small, but functional and everything is in working order. The breakfast the following morning was good, you find all the typical breakfast goodies here, eggs, sausage, cold cuts, a selection of cheeses, sliced tomatoes & cucumbers, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juices, and a nice selection of various breads. A young man helped us with our Luggage , there is no elevator, , there is FREE Parking for Hotel guests. The Berghotel has a nice Dining Room with good food, the staff throughout the Hotel is friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our short stay here and upon check out the owner , who is very friendly assisted us to bring down our luggage from our room without any hesitation. Based on our experience we would stay here again.

Does the jobthere is not much choice in this area. Compared with similar sized hotels in other parts of Germany, we were not so impressed, but if we needed to return to Schneeberg we would stay again. The room, a "standard", was a decent size; the bathroom, as another review said, definitely a retro-fit, but everything worked ok. Mattress felt soft and the sheets a bit cheap. Pillow too, although I have a problem with pillows in most German and Austrian hotels, they are useless. But the twin bed was a decent size and we slept well enough. Breakfast was where the hotel could and should improve. At least some fresh fruit and vegetables should be offered, as could coffee which was not made at 7.00 and placed on the table until 10.00. Customers might also expect some croissants or cakes, but none were made available. But the rolls were fresh. At this price level, you generally get a better breakfast in German hotels. It is a family run hotel, and the welcome is warm enough, but sometimes in the dining room, where the bar is too, we felt there was a little too much fuss about where we could or could not sit. As we learnt, the area is both conservative and religious, and while we were not exactly there to party ( I am over 60), and the hotel feels like it expects guests to be in bed by 22.00. It is dog friendly, with fields and trails right behind the hotel for the morning walk. So not a hotel to rave about, but if you need to be in Schneeberg, it will not let you down, either.

Moto Gp stop offMy girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights as it was not to far from the moto gp circuit. The room was clean and tidy, shower was really hot too. Staff were nice and friendly, food was ok but menu was in German unfortunately. We ate here for one night only as its a short walk in to town, however the walk does require some effort as very steep hills in an out of town. Breakfast was adequate, down side was internet didn't work in our room or hotel. Would I stay again probably not.
