I WAS EXPECTING MOREWe are a family with a kid 6 years old (ILIAS) from Greece and stayed 6 nights (new year eve). The hotel was clean, friendly staff, they spoke English. The room needed renovation (it was like a room of a 3 star pension and not a 3 star hotel) and a littlle small for three people, the bathroom was renovated and was fine. They changed towels every day (without asking it). The position is close to the center of village, ski bus outside the hotel. Nice playroom and cozy living room. All guests were civilized. Free internet. Breakfast nothing special, i have stayed to lower category accomodation with more rich breakfast, bio-ecke and better quality. Food (half-bord) tend to be "gourme" but with no success. Last year in a gasthofe in Nauders we were pleased of their dishes. Especially the food for the kid was like a diet plate, our kid lost weight. Value for money not so good, 175 euro was too much, i expected 15-20 euro less or better room and food. One month before my check-in due to a health problem i needed to leave 2 days earlier (6 days instead of 8). They asked me to pay 5 euro per day more, the amount was not too much but everywhere the cancellation policy 1 month prior to check-in is free. Finally the hotel is ok, but if you have an alternative (e.x. a nice pension with breakfast) think about it.

Excellent Value for moneyWe stayed here for Xmas 2013, with a family of five (children aged 4,7 and 10). This was our fifth stay at bergblick and the best yet. The food was always good but the new cook has contributed to an even better experience. The rooms are very clean and the federspiel family very friendly and welcoming. There are many returning guests. It is good value for money. For just over 200 euros per night with a family of five (half board excl drinks). we will go again.

Restaurant only, did not use the hotelWe found the hotel to be clean and tidy from what we saw of it but chose to use the pensions in the village for a more realistic Austrian welcome. Four of us ate here and the food was lovely. It was a good chance to try some Austrian food although there were plenty alternatives on the menu. I paid 52 for two of us to have two courses each and a couple of soft drinks which I think is great value, especially as the food was so good.

The good, the bad and the...We spent seven nights at Hotel Bergblick so I think I am qualified to offer good insight. The good: we were lucky to get room 312, on the highway side, which we believe had the best balcony views in the hotel. From here the Alps are both near and far, and not to be taken for granted. In addition the views of Nauders are directly before you, climbing up the hills. Our room was clean and spacious with ample cabinet and drawer space, a nice surprise. We found the hotel to have an Old World charm with some modern touches as well. The beds we thought were very comfortable, so much so that we didn't want to get up in the morning! The woman whom we surmised was the owner was pleasant and helpful in our infrequent encounters. The bad: As we were on a two week Dutch bus tour trip I had hoped to do one load of laundry at the hotel and requested the fee for such a service: 10 euro. Too much. I could see half as much as a fee, so I chose not to do laundry for that price. Watch out for the flooring in the bathroom, after a shower or bath the tile can be slippery. Neither one of us took a fall but I could see how this could be an issue, especially since it seemed there was no working exhaust fan . Likewise the bathtub is small (by American standards) and the shower head and enclosure of same is inadequate in my opinion. Bring your own hair dryer as well, and a tad frustrating each day was locking and unlocking the door to the room as this was a double turn lock, on the inside as well. I thought that such a door lock would be against fire codes in the USA. Our biggest reservation about the hotel were the dinners, which we felt were average at best. Perhaps this American stomach's first visit to the continent was expecting more, I know that outside the hotel the food we sampled was much better, delicious in many respects. Here at the hotel our breakfasts and lunches were basically the same fare: cold cuts, cheeses and breads, with some variety thrown in. Whether this was due to our economical tour company or not, I have no way of knowing. In our opinion the food was bland at times. One evening after we had completed a long fifteen mile hike we returned to the hotel where I requested some ice to ease some knee pain. The older fellow at the bar couldn't be bothered, or requested help from a coworker in a lackadaisical manner, which certainly was not necessary. Not speaking any German, I think I made myself understood that I was requesting a bag of ice, but this fellow just brushed me off. I think he's in the wrong business, the hospitality business is about helping guests isn't it? Finally I went downstairs and another gentleman helped me out, as I followed him BACK to the bar to find the ice bin below the bar. If we ever return to beautiful Nauders, Austria again and layover I would choose the Bergblick but with the understanding of the pros and cons of this property.

Surprising findTravelling through Austria we found the Bergblick, the reception service was quick with no fuss, the room was spacial with sitting area and balcony, large en suite (found it odd that there was no hairdryer). We had a room at the back of the hotel looking out over the ski lift. Excellent service at diner, food was good as was the breakfast. Plenty of space for car parking.
