Great hotel in many ways but slightly let down by unchanged bed linen. The Belvedere Hotel is very good and is in a great location. Belvedere is approximately 10 miles / 16 km from Ypres (Leper) and stands on a hillside close to the border with France. The panoramic vistas from the rooms on the 2nd floor are amazingly picturesque. The hotel is clean and tidy in all areas, however one problem let it down for full marks on "cleanliness" which I shall explain in more detail below. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The cuisine is very good and the 3 steaks (rare, medium and well done) were all done to perfection. For some people, particularly those from the UK, the "Continental Breakfast" may take some getting use to but this applies to everywhere on the continent. Cereals, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs were readily available as were ham, cheese and croissants. Free off road parking behind the hotel is available but spaces are minimal. There is an open sheltered roofed area which would be ideal for motorcycles but during our stay this was always occupied by 2 cars. On street parking (across the road on a verge) is also available at the front of the hotel. Prior to leaving the UK, my youngest son became unwell and when we arrived in Belgium his condition worsened and the hotel owner manager gave me the address to the nearest hospital in Ypres. Our only problem with the hotel and our sole reason for not giving full marks for "cleanliness" is that when my youngest son became increasingly ill with a sickness and diarrhoea virus, he had a small accident in bed which left a stain across the middle of the sheet. I deliberately pulled the duvet back to clearly expose the problem on his bed only and purposefully left the duvet on my bed and my eldest son's bed pulled up to cover the beds. I also left the "Clean Room" sign on the door handle outside the room. We then spent about 8hrs+ in A&E at the hospital in Ypres where my son had various blood and urine tests and put on an intravenous drip to rehydrate him. The paediatrician was going to admit my son in to hospital to monitor him overnight but eventually decided to discharge him and allow us to return to the hotel. Upon our return to Hotel Belvedere, I noticed that the sign I left outside on the door handle was gone and placed back inside the room and the duvet on my son's bed was pulled up like my bed and my eldest son's bed and all 3 beds were unmade. The first thing I did was to pull back the duvet on my youngest son's bed to expose the sheet still with the brown stain across the centre. I was so annoyed that someone obviously entered the room, removed the sign on the door and must of seen the soiled sheet before pulling the duvet over to cover it, that I went in to the hallway and opened a cupboard directly outside our room and found a clean single sheet and replaced the dirty sheet which was left on the bed by the staff. Despite the negative report on the cleanliness of their bed linen, the rest of the hotel is clean and tidy so as a result I would still highly recommend a visit.

Welcoming and charing country hote;Room at rear was quiet with nice views. Excellent welcome, fantastic breakfast and very good dinner. The hotel maintains the charm of a bygone era. Plenty of place to sit and relax before dinner. Make sure you visit the nearby cjair lift

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, lovely viewsWe have just left the Belvedere and wanted to share our pleasant memories, before they fade. We stayed here while visiting the WW1 memorials around Ypres. We normally choose to stay in towns, but since we were driving all round the countryside, this was a perfect place to stay, located just about 15 minutes out of town. There is a car park behind the hotel, as well as lots of free on-road parking. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was heaving. This is obviously a very popular place for Sunday lunch. There seem to just be 10 rooms in the hotel, and the family live on site too. All rooms either have a wonderful view of the wide plain to the front, or the forest and hills to the back. Clearly, the views from the second floor are better. Our room was big, clean, with a shower. I think other rooms just have a bath. We stayed two nights and the bed was not made nor towels changed, but that didn't bother us. The breakfast was a substantial continental breakfast, and there was a lot of choice for the evening meal, reasonably cheap (set meal for 18), large portions, though chips with most meats (seems to be standard in Belgium). They are great animal lovers in this hotel. There are 5 or 6 cats roaming in the car park, dogs can stay, and we were delighted that there was not an additional charge for our dog.

Cant wait to come backWe stayed in room 8, for one night and omg what can I say about this place other than if you haven't stayed here please stay. The rooms are huge, the beds are so comfy and the views amazing. We were in room 8 which was at the front at the top, the views were amazing and can see for miles, the room doesn't have tea making facilities but I asked one of the men there and they sorted it out. We ate at the hotel for dinner and the food was brilliant and very well priced. The staff were all lovely and helpful. I can't say much more about this place other than if you haven't stayed here please do it's amazing and we can't wait to come back.

Rural !Quite basic, quaint but clean, could have been a few more comforts, like softer towels, somewhere to put the shower gel when in the shower etc. Staff very helpful, adequate for the price.Continentsal breakfast fine.
