You'll love it!We arrived from Canada and this was our first stopover in our tour of Northern Ireland. Joe was kind enough to let us arrive earlier than expected by getting our room ready after a night of 30 guests to clean up after! The house is amazing - large rooms and bathrooms. It is old - 1800's, and keeping the integrity of the building's history is a challenge but Joe and Angie do a great job. Embrace the worn furniture (antiques) , the quirky layout, and the beautiful large original windows and you will enjoy your stay. The bed was comfortable , the breakfast was great! We enjoyed our stay - thanks Joe and Angie:)

Was Really Expecting MoreWe left pretty much in the middle of the night and continuted our journey. Beds weren't comfortable. Place just felt a little creepy and shabby. There was no one anywhere when we arrived and it took quite some time to find them. The plus was that it was within walking distance of town but seemed overpriced for what they gave you.

Faulty towers would be betterWhere do I begin? We can only laugh at our experience now but we certainly werent laughing on our 2 night stay there! When we arrived at Belmont we were greeted with a locked door and a bell! We rang the bell which wasnt answered so we tried again and again and again! I tried phoning the number which wasnt answering! After driving all the way from west cork this was not what we needed and it was freezing! So after 15 minutes I tried the number again and finally an answer.... he had popped to the shops and would be 10 minutes! Thankfully we had relations also staying and they were able to let us in out of the cold! So the young gentleman finally arrived apologized and gave us a key to room 9! So we took off only to discover the room already occupied by guests! So I went back to the desk which is unattended with a bell! The young man came down once I told him the situation he seemed quite shocked and disappeared off to sort it! He then gave me a key to room 7 after apologizing the manager sent him incorrect details in a text. So went back upstairs to get my mum and sister and tell them of the new room! This room was dark (due to very few bulbs working!) and dreary with two beds pushed up against the wall which meant that one person would have to climb out over the other to go bathroom! After the long journey our phones were going dead so we looked for sockets .... 1 we only found one and it was at the opposite side of the room with the tv plugged in! So mum went to get the young lad to help us Incase we missed any! He didnt have a clue apologized again and said he would ring the manager to find out! He returned and said he could offer us a new room which we accepted so we were now in room 10! A way better room bar the radiator being held up by a few wooden blocks and no remote for the tv! But it was bright and had sockets by the beds! The next day we had a christening and I decided to go for a shower at 12:30 left the shower running for a while and no hot water we tried the tap Incase it was on wrong setting but no luck after 15minutes! So mum rang reception turns out the boiler was off and to give it 10minutes to heat up we gave it 20! Still NO hot water .. now 1:20 I got fed up we only had an hour before we had to leave and 2 others to shower! So we had to have a very cold Luke warm shower! While I was in the shower a member of staff, a tall guy with long tied back he never introduced himself so cant call him by name, knocked on the door, he was so unprofessional and his manner was appalling according to my mum who answered the door and he offered to move us! To where we dont know but we didnt have time! On the plus breakfast was lovely but dont be rushing there is a bit of a wait! The young gentleman we first met was Ben and he was amazing and god love him he tried his best to make us happy but I dont think he knew anything about the place and got left to cover for the weekend without being given much detail! Oh and to put the cherry on top when checking out we paid our Balance and asked for a receipt! So Ben went off and after 5-10minutes returned and apologized he couldnt find a piece of paper so had to write it out on a torn piece of envelope! We couldnt do anything but laugh!

Amazing!! Highly recommendedStunning period home with all the trimmings. Fantastic friendly service, overly spacious beautiful room, very comfortable beds, hot power shower, delicious hot breakfast. Everything about this grand house is stunning. Bedroom, library, dining room, reception area, hallways and pillared entrances, large gardens front and rear, stately period residence restored to its former glory and made available to the public. This is also the best value in Newry (other hotels are more expensive and rooms are tiny, without any period finesse or character). Highly recommended.
