    very nice and new apartments facing the sea, nice infinity pool, large rooms in the apt and wonderful terrace for perfect bbqs. very nice finishing of the apts that are very well serviced and clean. Supermarkets are within 5 minutes

    Paradise

    This accommodation was excellent. From before we arrived, Isabelle looked after all our needs. She arranged transfers and ordered in shopping. When we arrived we were tired but was greeted by Ashley who was our man on the ground. He visited us regularly and attended to any problem that arose promptly. He helped with car hire during a busy period and found us something that suited our needs exactly. Katie our cleaner came in every day and emptied the dish washer, hung out the washing, tidied the beds. The service was lovely. We got to know the friendly security guards, Raymond and one other who resembled Usain Bolt to the amusement of my children. All in all, it was a perfect holiday made possible by the lovely position of the appartment, on the beach front, with a shared infinity pool, kayaking facilities, a place where the Dolphins come to sleep, barbecue facilities, manicured gardens, lovely staff and beautiful weather. We want to come back again.

    On our 6 weeks holiday, we decided to split it in two parts and stay on different sides of the island to make the most of it. Our first was Belle Crique in Tamarin, Black River district. The apartment was very spacious and light, we had 4 bed A1 type on the ground floor. The outside part was fantastic, we had huge area to ourselves, gas BBQ and grill BBQ was supplied to us kindly by request. The beach is full of stones but still manageable to have a dip in or use kayaks, that were free to use. The management, Ashley, was more than helpful and could not do enough for us. So this review is more to whoever owns the place, hoping that the constructive criticism will be accepted positively. Inside the apartment, given the fact that its 4 bed and so min 6 people, i found only 4 dining chairs, which is a little odd. I had to fetch one chair from the outside table, and my husband was having his meals on the sofa. The reason why we did not use outside table for 8 is that the poor lightning near that area made it rather uninviting in the evenings. The amount of utensils for 4 bed villa was not sufficient enough, but again, we asked for extras and we got them provided. The lounge furniture desperately needs to be updated. The wooden armchairs are impossible to sit on , the bigger sofa is very welcomed as well. The same applies to two back bedroom furniture, its just looks old and tired. Rugs on the floor are hazard for slipping, they are all over the place, waiting for someone to trip over those massive folds. Internet was not good at all. There was not a single full length mirror in the house, nor the small ones. The only mirrors were in the bathrooms, but as there are no hairdryer sockets for obvious reasons, i have mastered styling my hair without the mirror to perfection. The towels were nasty dark brown color, sure you can invest in some new ones, white will be nice. And the last. The sliding doors to the outside need to have a more noticeable sign on them, to prevent people from walking into them. My sister walked into it first, and i did a few days later so badly, that my nose is still swollen ( 7 days later). I did inform the management about it, hopefully it will be fixed. At the moment we are in the Paradise Beach run by the same company, and its different story here. All glass doors have visible signs on them. The whole place is full of lovely things, i wrote the separate review for it. The place is nice and big, all it needs is a little update in some areas. Thank you.

    Disappointing

    Stunning property but. We booked a Horizon holiday following great past experience with them and properties managed by them. Their service is great, they make the property feel 5*, lovely maids who zoom in & out quickly, an endless supply of clean towels and the excellent Ashley on hand to assist with whatever you might need. We are a family of five with 3 children (2 teens) and we stayed at Belle Crique for 10 days. We stayed in Unit B1. On the morning of our arrival a lady called Kathy arrived and informed us that Horizon had been let go and she now manages the property. She said the owner will now have nothing to do with Horizon, had huge problems with Horizon (eg items missing etc) and thats why she has been appointed to manage. Firstly, why did we learn this on arrival and not before ? It made me concerned as we had paid Horizon & dealt with them.and had great experience with them. We clarified with Horizon who had a different story, but confirmed that they no longer manage the property and apologised. So this review is for the owner, not Horizon. The property was clearly not ready for us and Kathy (who later did admit that she was learning the job) had obviously not checked the property and facilities before our arrival. The towels were old, threadbare & smelly. She said she had ordered new ones, but they hadnt arrived yet. She told us there is also a bedroom linen shortage. We received new clean towels on Day 3. There was also no hot water. We had travelled 8 hours to get here & arrived late, cold and desperate for a hot shower. Despite much fuss being made about getting it fixed we had no hot water and often no water at all until day 5!! Kathy laughed off the lack of hot water, saying its hot in Mauritius !! (Its not that hot here in August!) The gas BBQ didnt work - Kathy didnt know this (later established that the igniter didnt work and we could light it externally, so not the end of the world, but she should have checked this). The Nespresso machine was filthy, spewing out grey sludgy water. We had to clean this ourselves before use. The kitchen although lovely is poorly stocked, lacking basics such as mixing bowls and only one chopping board. The fridge alarm beeps randomly all night and no one seems to be able to reset it. Kathy blamed everything on Horizon and said these are all issues handed over to her by Horizon only a week prior (Horizon said actually 3 weeks)..but a week is more than enough time to get the property cleaned and ready. Im guessing as Kathy said she was learning from us that she had not managed a holiday property before and we were her first guests. The maid was new, inexperienced and battled to manage 3 apartments on her own - she spent 5 hours in our apartment one day making it difficult for us to relax and enjoy the space. When we mentioned this to Kathy, she effectively accused us of lying which was weird. Kathy said by Day 5 there would be a 2nd maid to help. This happened on Day 7. The towel situation actually became farcical. We were rationed towels. One small bath towel and one swimming towel each. We took some to the beach for the day and Kathy would only bring us new towels when we could do a swap / handover of the dirty ones like a school matron. When my wife requested 2 extra towels for her and my daughter to use as hair towels this was refused. We also asked for a few extra beach towels to cover the extremely grubby sun lounger cushions. Again this was refused. Bearing in mind this is supposed to be a luxury vacation rental clean fresh towels in plentiful supply would have been nice. We were also surprised when on our penultimate night, it appears the 2 apartments above us were rented out for one night only to a crowd for a party. Luckily, we were out to dinner, but wouldnt have been able to sit outside while they partied. They didnt rage into the early hours but we were surprised the apartments were rented out for a party given the number of families staying in the resort. These may all sound like small minor rants, but when you compare to the experience we have had in Horizon managed properties, it is like 3* versus 5*.but we have paid 5* prices. Whenever we asked Ashley at Horizon for something he was extremely helpful and professional. I dont want to make it personal, but Kathy was not approachable. When it became clear that we were not happy with our experience here she became argumentative and unpleasant. She did apologise when we left, which we took as an acknowledgement that she knew the apartment & service had not been up to scratch. We paid Horizon for the holiday, but all the issues were out of Horizons control as they dont manage the property anymore. Im amazed the owner could effectively fire Horizon when Horizon still has clients like us booked. It makes Horizon look bad too as we paid them for a holiday which was not up to their high standards. We would certainly not recommend Belle Crique apartments before checking on the management. This was a hard earned holiday for us and our 3 children marred by incompetent and unpleasant management. I believe some of the apartments are still managed by Horizon and I strongly advise anyone looking to book here to make sure they do so with Horizons. The property & resort is stunningbut to make them 5* holiday worthy, they need to be managed well.

    Good experience

    We spent 10 nights at this apartment and the experience has been satisfactory albeit pricey. The location was convenient and we could walk to the nearest supermarket. Its cleaned everyday by the house maid and its gated-guarded. Nice small pool and walking distance to the beach however the pool has many sharp edges due to the tiles. Users could be cut or scratch if not careful. We have towels changeout once every few days. However, one of the toilet seats is misaligned (see pic) so it would be good for the owner to improve on this. The clothes drying rake is in a very bad condition and many rangs are missing. Overall if cost is not an issue, this is a good place to stay during your vacation at Mauritius.
