Very badLast summer I was a week in a bungalow at Belambra. To start with the positive - the location is good. Directly at the beach. I was very disappointed with our stay. The pictures look very nice and promising, but in reality it was horrible! The appartment was cleaned very badly and we had to buy everything to clean again. There was mold in the bedroom and in the bathroom. I had a very bad asthma for the whole week. It is not okay to rent out appartments which are unhealthy to live in. The staff speaks does not speak English. They can say hello and smile but the don't understand if you ask a simple question. Don't go there!

Great Location and Access to Local sitesStayed at Belambra with the kids - its not a traditional hotel but more a set of cottages set on the hillside above the Omaha Beach WWII landing sites. Cottages have kitchens and each location has a balcony for outdoor dining. The front desk closes early (5 PM) but they were nice enough to leave the key out for us even though we had not called in advance to say we would be arriving late.

AWFULI visited this place 5th Sept 2015, the room was cold, damp with no working heaters. Plus the room smelt bad of toilet drains due to it raining outside. Reception closes at 5pm and because we arrived after this we had no one to contact, and so we had to leave and book elsewhere. I would not recommend this place.

No services and no wi-fi in roomsThe location is a historic one, the scene of a famous D-Day invasion, and within walking distance of the Normandy American Cemetery, but the facilities are not as advertised. This is a cabins-for-rent establishment posing as a hotel, that caters to groups, but not independent travelers. We did not find staff particularly bilingual. The price is good if you are willing to provide all your own food, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, etc., but there is NOTHING in their advertisement to let travelers know this. It is listed as being in the Bayeux area, but it is quite a distance from Bayeux They supply one change of linens for the beds, which have a mattress, but no box spring, and towels and one roll of toilet paper (no kidding) per unit. When we ran out of TP on the second day there and there was no one at the front desk, I politely asked someone in the back office for a roll of TP and she asked if I was with a group. When I said there were just two of us, she glared at me and said "the first roll is free. After that you are supposed to provide your own." This place promotes itself as a 100-room residence that welcomes guests with conveniences like a restaurant, free in-room WiFi and free self parking. Only guests with a group are allowed access to the restaurant. There is a snack bar in a separate building open from around noon to 6 p.m. five days a week, but otherwise no food or coffee available here. The front desk is staffed only at certain hours, Wi-Fi is free, but only available in the main building, and not 24-7. The restaurant is open to group tours only, not individuals. The rooms are individual units away from the main building, with stove burners, no ovens, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, silverware, dishes, glasses, coffee pot, etc. No complimentary packets of coffee, tea, sugar, creamer. Guests are responsible for providing their own dish soap, and anything else needed to clean up items used in the kitchen area. Our unit had a bottom sheet and duvet, with a duvet cover on one double bed, but the single beds had only a bottom sheet and no cover on duvets, and frankly I wondered if they wash the duvets that have no cover after guest use. Each guest gets one large and one small towel. No wash clothe, no shampoo or other soap. Guests are expected to remove sheets from their beds before departing, fold them up with the cases from small pillows and pile them up with the towels, throughly clean the kitchen and bathroom areas and sweep the floor. A broom, dustpan and vacuum are provided. The nearest place to buy groceries, cleaning supplies for the rooms, etc. is about a 20-minute drive in Port en Bassin. There is a laundry facility which nobody bothered to tell us existed and we found it only by accident just before leaving. They want payment at check-in and nobody asks when you drop off your key if you had a nice stay. They just don't seem to care. Some staff are bilingual and others are not. We were on our first trip overseas and very surprised at how different this place was than the way it was advertised. A well-traveled European couple we met felt the same was about this place, which none of us would stay at again. Paths to most rooms are steep and would be tough to traverse by a person with limited mobility.
