Basic but cheap and adequateMy brother and I spent a week at the start of Feb. There are many things you could moan about but you have to be realistic about what you get for you money in the centre of a very large ski area with ski to the door. The selection of bars and restaurants in Belle Plagne is fairly limited, but then again there is something for most tastes and budgets as well as a well stocked SPAR store if you want to DIY. We had a good week and really enjoyed the skiing and we came home with a few Euros left over.... just! My only criticism would be the opening hours of the lifts.... 9.30 start is rather late and 16.15 is early to close.

A bad experience of Self Catering in FranceThis was my first experience of a self catering ski holiday in France - this has definitely put me off. While it is obviosuly cheaper at the start there are so many hidden and extra costs that quickly add up and the facilities are very basic. If you do book this self catering accommodation / basic hostel accommodation make sure you carefully read all the documents and double check the expectations before you book or check out. We did know we had to pay extra for bedding and towels, so took towels and paid the 32 for linen and tax. However we didn't know we were expected to wash the basic linen at the end of the holiday so recieved a fine. The room was very basic and the beds were the worst I have ever slept in. I have travelled extensively around the world and stayed in basic accomodation before - for example hostels in Nepal, Malaysia and Morroco, but never had such poor nights sleeps in uncomfortable beds. Sleep was further disrupted by fire alarms, apparently someone in the kitchen was unable to cook without burning food. The self catering facilities were once again very basic, the main issue however was the hobs. When they were used they tripped the electric and plunged us into darkness. We did let reception know who informed us a few occupants have had the same issue. Someone clearly did look at the problem but no resolution. The room was very basic and having to check an itinerary of items in the room was a new experience, but not sure what happened to the TV, the cables and attachments were on the wall but clearly removed - not that we tried to stay in the room for longer than we had to. We had to check out at 10am but our flight was not until 9pm. When I initially requested if there was any space for storing luggage I revived a less than helpful response. However when I tried again and said I was with Sunweb there was an alternative. However it meant wheeling our luggage to the other side of the resort and paying 5 per person to store it in an unused room in a bar/restaurant in the corner with no security. The final straw for our negative experience was when we came to check out. Having never stayed in a self catering accomodation in a ski resort before we did not reliase how strict the check out procedures were. We did make the mistake of not booking a check out time for our room to be inspected, but having stripped and folded the bed linen and tidied the room I assumed we would be fine. However we later recieved a phone call to inform us we had been charged 70 of our 200 deposit for not washing the bed linen, not taking out our rubbish and not hoovering the room. Having read through all the paperwork again it does say 'hand back your room perfectly clean'. The manager of the residence had been very helpful and friendly up until this point, helping to suggest places to eat, but when I came back to query this fine she refused to discuss it with me and instead locked up and went to a prior booked meeting and suggested I take it up with the Sunweb rep. If they had simply told me to take out the rubbish, hoover the room and wash the linen I would have done so, i don't have an issue doing these things if I knew i had to, and I have not found any clear instructions to do so in the info revieved from Sunweb. What a shame to finish a holiday on such a negative experience.

Baaaaaad hotel managementWe came to ski. First day we arrive in the morning just to leave our staff and to go to the slopes but the receptionist told us that the check-in starts at 16:30 and that the hotel does not have a storage room for the lugage. Basically we have to wait for 7 hours till the check-in. We told them that we can leave the lugage in our room (that was already empty and partially clean by the previous guests) in a cortner or even in the balcony not to bother the cleanning stuff but they said NO. Zero intention to help the customer. Not the receptionist fault (even if their level of profesionalism was faaaaaar from it!) but the hotel rules. You pay a lot of money to come to ski and then you lose one day (lots of money!) because somebody is not very client oriented. For me, for this reason, this is a place to avoid in the future. Even if the appartments are not bad at all.

DO NOT STAY HERE!This place should be shut down by the relevant authority! Horrendous! No facilities to leave luggage and noone available despite prior arrangement to collect keys to apartment for 7 hours! Had to sit in a bar with luggage all day subsequently losing the first day of skiing. Bunk beds, shower hanging off the wall with no hook, photos on website are clearly very dated as do not resemble the current state of the interior or furnishings. Additional charge for almost everything you can think of! Avoid at all costs!

A decent place to stayHey, we stayed here a month ago. It was basic but good for us as a small group of friends who want to ski and then relax in the evenings, plus its an ideal location. On our departure we were refunded our 100 Deposit per person after our room was checked and we both have the receipt. Unfortunately neither of us have received the money back and we cant find any contact details online. Would you be able to provide with an email address or number please? Thanks
