  On-slow time

  Rang ahead from 500km away. Arranged a room only to arrive at 10.30 pm to find no access to room as arranged. Headed down for breakfast only to be told to go over the road to the servo. Not before lining up with the blow ins to get a coffee. Informed them I'll stay another night.(I Know) arrived back at 10.30pm to find no access to room again. Got manager out of bed again, Only to be issued a key with. You guessed it. No access. Got manager again, who now wanted to let me in but not issue a working card. Eventually recieved a functioning card. So dissapointing. Normally love Onslow twice a year. PS Not Dog Friendly Anymore.compliments of the outstanding new management.

  Coastal Oasis

  Lovely old building for bar and restaurant, the rooms are a new build and fully self contained including a washing machine/dryer. The meals from the hotel are excellent quality and beautifully presented (great chef) with barista coffee and breakfast, lunch and dinner available. Request a room with sea views if possible. Undercover car park. The people are friendly and helpful.

  Best Fish Ever

  Yes its pub food, however my wife had scallops and calamari, I helped, marvellous simple food cooked to perfection. I followed with a fish basket, scallops, prawns, snapper, all cooked to perfection. The staff were brilliant. If you are passing drop in.

  Clean rooms, but not so good for those mobility impaired

  Had lunch at the pub, a basic pub menu with meals of generous proportions. The have a limited selection of wines, but there were sufficient to make a selection. Meals and drinks ordered and paid for at the bar (American Express cards are accepted). Take your drinks to your table, meals are served to the table. Seating available inside, on the verandah or in the beer garden, Guests rarely following physical distancing protocols, only inches between chairs when dinin inside. Our check in to the hotel went smoothly. We were warmly greeted by a friendly and helpful host. Our stay was in the new section, on the top floor, travel light, there's several flights of stairs to climb! The room was compact, but fairly new and clean. Although, the small freezer looks like it hasn't ever been cleaned or defrosted. It had an electric two burner hot plate, exhaust hood, washing machine/clothes dryer, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery, but no microwave. Foxtel wasn't available, but WiFi was freely available. Under cover, but unsecured, parking is available. The air-conditioner is noisy and the top two flights of stairs are dangerous at night as there are no lights over the metal stairs of the last two flights.

  Seafood platter very overcooked and generally very poor.

  This was recommended for its food. Maybe the regular chef wasn't working that night. My seafood platter was the worst I have ever tasted. Over cooked and one of the fish pieces, I have no idea what it was. It tasted as if it was a frozen piece of cheap fish, deep fried.
