Peaceful, serene yet close to everything in SidneyThis is our second stay at the Beacon Inn! We arrived with another person, whom we thought was another guest. Turned out it was the owner who introduced himself as Russ, let us into the inn, and thanked us for staying there. The concept is a new Victorian (built in early 2000s) . The first floor sitting room and breakfast room are a little fussy, but the suites/rooms are understated and beautifully kept. We stayed in the Shaw Room which has a birdseye view of the action in Sidney. It is very cozy but has a huge bathroom. The color scheme is a very elegant mauve and matte silver and is not fussy at all! The management has thought of everything, including coffee and tea availability all day and night, sherry at 5 pm, and two kinds of cookies. Breakfasts are included and feature a hot breakfast entree each morning. The staff are very friendly and obviously take great pride in providing personalized attention. We will be back!

Not Quite What It Used To Be!My husband brought me here for my 65th birthday because we had good memories of being here in the past. The manager (Denise) was very helpful to my husband in advance helping him to select restaurants and a spa for a massage for me. We were excited to arrive there and our first contact with staff was friendly and helpful. However, as our visit progressed it became clear that things just weren't quite at the same level as we remembered. I get that there were changes due to Covid but the continental breakfast in the room was not at all a satisfactory substitute for the lovely 5 star breakfast from before. The coffee in the room was absolutely aweful and only allowed one very small cup to be made at a time. The first morning the scone they provided was dry and not really suitable for a breakfast. It was more of a savoury biscuit you might get with a soup at lunch. There were 3 groups of people staying on our floor but there was only one communal fridge in the hall. A separate basket was placed in the fridge with some of our breakfast things but anyone could have touched it and there was only one milk container for all of us to share so we don't know how clean it was kept. It was awkward to eat in our room as it was not originally set up for this so we were juggling things on our lap. I don't know why they couldn't have prepared proper coffee in thermoses for each room, and why they couldn't still provide a hot breakfast but provide it to the room or make it like a take out like restaurants are abe to do. The bed and pillows were surprisingly very uncomfortable and lumpy (not really expected in a quality inn) and when I asked if there were any other pillow options possible I was very clearly told that was all there was. We rarely saw any staff after we checked in and paid and no one really checked to see if everything was okay. There was also no one at the counter to say goodbye as we left or thank us for coming. Just not what we had experienced in the past. I would come again in the future if things improve again but for now I would not recommend it the way we heartily did in the past.

Delightful piece of Europe so close to townMy husband and I landed here unexpectedly due to some boat repairs needed over the course of a week. From the moment we arrived to the Inn, we felt welcomed and protected from anything outside the doors. The decor is European elegance with warm colours and beautiful accents. While our first room was small, it was extremely well equipped with beautiful bedding, welcome chocolates, huge jetted tub, coffee maker in the room, lots of information on surroundings, and a delicious breakfast included in the rate. We ended up changing rooms to another one - Lopez, which we found to be bigger and more comfortable, but with all the amenities offered in the first room. Syd, the wonderfully warm and energetic staff person worked overtime to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we need. The Inn is just a short walk to all restaurants and the ocean as well as shops and everything one might need. We were thrilled to find this little 9 room gem just when we needed some comfort. Thank you everyone at Beacon Inn, we will be back!

Delightful room, friendly service, and breakfast! We planned a Sidney evening so we could visit the Farmers Daughter for wine and cheese and not have to worry about getting back to Esquimalt. We arrived at the Beacon Inn, saw the sign to ring for service and were quickly greeted by a friendly staff member who welcomed us in. We had our masks on and so did the staff member. We were advised about our room and asked about our breakfast preferences all in a very safe environment. Our room was spotless and filled with special touches such as robes, full length mirror, cookies (in shared lounge area), and more. I highly recommend this lovely little Inn for your next Sidney visit.

Beautiful stayWe again stayed for two nights at the Beacon Inn. Right off of Beacon Avenue in Sidney, this charming clean and well priced Hotel was just as great as we had remembered, in spite of the Covid challenges. Good, portable breakfast and helpful and courteous staff left us reassured that sensible precautions were in place and we could put aside our Covid worries while there. We highly recommend this accommodation.
