Not a 4 star hotelThis is not a 4 star hotel, yes it has a nice view and it is clean but that's where it ends. There is also NO BEACH even though they have it in their name, it's a concrete wall and the water is rough and thick with seaweed. The staff seem friendly and smiley but don't actually help you because they can't due to hotel policies"; I'm five months pregnant and asked for a 30 minute to 1 hour late check out as was having a bad morning, they said they could offer that but I would have to pay £160 which is utterly ridiculous considering the time frame I requested. The breakfast is a large spread but it's the same thing every day, so we were sick to death of it by the end of our stay, the coffee is so bad its undrinkable which is odd as Japanese coffee is normally excellent. I've never stayed in a hotel before which has such an awful atmosphere, there's no bar or social area for guests of an evening so you just find yourself sitting in your room. They moaned at us for putting our chairs out on the balcony, even though there are no chairs provided for guests on the balcony. They wouldn't let two adults without any children borrow a knife to cut some fruit in their room and made us bring the fruit down and cut it in front of them. They are no cushions or beach towels provided for the pool area and they do not replace your towels for fresh in the evening if you have had to use them all day. They do not provide towels for the spa. The spa is closed all day for cleaning and you cannot gain access until 4. There are no refreshments for guests during the day and no open bar to purchase soft drinks during the day if you are using the pool area. They charge you £10 per day for bike hire when other hotels in the area offer them for free. Unless you have a car you are very limited to 3 evening resturants, the Japanese resturant two minutes from the hotel is very good though. The hotels resturant is over priced and nobody eats in there. The view is lovely and the rooms are large but decor very dated, its a very safe hotel for families with young children. Most of these issues highlighted are due to hotel policy and high end management and are not the fault of the staff. Overall it was a poor experience for us, we would not stay again.

Hotel is nice, but my experience is bad.Our family stayed at Beach Sunshine Hotel Ishigaki for 6 days from 2/6/2019-7/6/2019, the last second day was my cousin's birthday so we celebrated at night. One of the staff complaint us was too noisy then we left the room and went to the beach immediately. Next day, the staff asked us to change the room and returned the card before 7pm when we came back to hotel around 6:15pm from diving as she had to leave and she was the one who speaks english. Her attitude was too rude and impolite. They just gave us one reminder and we did improve it but they said other customer complaint about the noise and it was our problem so we had to move. The hotel staff arranged the other rooms for us which were far away from the elevator (previous one was just the one next to elevator) and not the same facility with the previous one which we think its totally not fair. Why they can downgrade our rooms and being so rude to us? Anyway, this is my first time to write a complaint of a hotel. I think most of the hotel staff are nice except the lady which is english speaker. I did send an email to complaint twice on 11june and 14june and there is no response upon now(4/7/2019). We are extremely disappointed by her service.

A Room with A View of ParadiseWe have stayed at this hotel to celebrate our first year anniversary in 2016, loved it so much we came back this year to celebrate our third year anniversary. If you are a couple/ single traveler looking for a relaxing tranquil stay with views of the reef and want to be woken up by the lapping of waves, I would recommend booking the newly built Annex wing. The room is modern and clean with comfy beds, all the mod-cons you need such as kettle, fridge, tea making facilities. The bathroom is spacious, shower and bath and a separate room for toilet (for when the husband decides to take his time) and you want to shower. Last time we were here in 2016, most of the staff spoke Japanese but we managed to get by with simple English phrases and lots of hand gestures. This time, it was much easier, they have hired a lovely lady, Pamina who speaks fluent English, French and Japanese to welcome us to the hotel and help arrange bookings for restaurants/ tours etc. Shes super friendly and made us feel very welcome. She gave us helpful tips on where to visit and gave us a list of restaurants for various types of cuisine. The hotel also boasts only one of two hotels in Ishigaki that has an onsen on-site so after dinner you can go over and have a relaxing dip under the moon and stars. We had a wonderful stay and needless to say, we will be back to celebrate more wedding anniversaries :)

Average property, poor experience and Rude guest relationship manager !!Beach sunshine hotel is a nice and reasonable property with a convenient location. They have a nice swimming pool, though was bit let down by the room size and ambience. It was really nice to sit besides the pool at night and do star gazing. Their is only 1 guest relationship Manager who speaks English and did take efforts to introduce us to the hotel, however she was rude and impolite at times as if she herself is the owner and hotel has rules more like hostel and not a hotel, which was a spoiler. Wondering why such a big hotel cant have a better relationship Manager, otherwise the experience was alright. Would stay at other better properties on the island and would recommend same.

Delightful atmosphereThis was a very pleasant spot. I had a massive room, very well appointed, with a pleasant, shaded veranda and a nice view through trees to the beach (very close!). The pool area had amazing views across to nearby islands. The staff were helpful, but invisible when not needed. I wish I could have stayed longer.
