Top!We stayed one night at this fantastic B&B. The house A 1920's mansion previously owned by a rich industrialist, situated on a large estate overlooking Rochefort. The rooms are large and comfortable but not very modern. Our room had a dedicated bathroom and toilet. The location What an amazing location this is! The house is beautiful, the garden well cared for, the swimming pond and the second pond look fantastic. The garden also holds a hot tub and a sauna. Both are heated by wood! The hosts The owners of this B&B used to run a small hotel in Turkey for 16 years. They have tons of experience and it shows. They make you feel at home and even though we didn't make reservations for diner, they managed to offer an excellent meal. Breakfast Due to the excellent weather, we had breakfast outside together with the other guests (maximum capacity=8). The breakfast buffet offered Danish pastries, bread, local cheeses, home made jams, meat preparations, fruit, etc... Needless to says we didn't leave hungry! We will definitely visit this place again in the fall as the view promisses to be even more stunning then.

Lovely experience just outside the townAlthough we were only here for one night, we very much enjoyed our stay, the breakfast and the hospitality. Very friendly & chatty owners. Superb breakfast in a lovely dining room with beautiful views. The room we stayed in was dated but had a good quality bed and lovely views over the town. The bath was small and ancient and the (private) toilet was on the landing outside the room, but the room was not in any way tacky or below standard - just not modern or new. Our stay here was very comfortable and the rest of the big house is very nice indeed. The grand entrance hall and magnificent staircase give a taste of the potential of the place. It will require major investment to modernise, but you just can't beat the setting: surrounded by woods, yet only 3 minutes by bike into the heart of Rochefort. Sitting on the terrace, looking out over the spires, roofs and landmarks of Rochefort, with a glass of Rochefort Trappist 8, admiring the huge garden and ponds, in the autumn sunshine, was priceless. The owners couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. We picked up lots of useful information about the town, the Ardennes and what to look out for (or avoid). Very entertaining too! Highly recommended.

Cosy comfort in the ArdennesWe had the good fortune to spend a night here in October. Daniël and Chantal greeted us warmly and we shared welcome drinks and conversation by the fire (local Trappist beer!). The day was chilly, but we decided against the sauna because of the rain. We enjoyed a delectable 3 course dinner at Les Buisonnets (I had pre-arranged this for my husband's birthday). Breakfast brought more delicious treats featuring pastries, excellent croissants, homemade marmalade, cheese, cold cuts, homemade bread, fresh fruit, and more. The bed was comfortable and all rooms have a private bathroom. The B & B is the former home of a wealthy industrialist and Daniël and Chantal have transformed it into a lovely place to stay. There are many opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling and the views of the surrounding areas are top notch. The caves in Han are a short ride away and are well worth a visit. We recommend it highly! Book via e-mail and you can pre-pay with bank transfer.
