  Thoroughly recommended

  This was our 2nd visit this year, this time we brought our friends who were celebrating a big birthday. They loved this warm and friendly hotel as much as we do. It is great value for money with lots of places to sit, cracking breakfasts and super dinners. Our room was lovely and clean, comfortable with a nice view of the courtyard. This wont be our last visit Im sure and we will continue to recommend this place to anyone looking for a break near Oakham.

  Warm friendly welcome to spacious clean comfortable room in beautiful characterful manor house.Quality beverages & toiletries provided. Covid secure.Delicious breakfast in Conservatory doing room.A memorable stay--we would have loved to prolong our visit.

  Cottesmore retreat lodge DIRTY

  Disappointing is an understatement. On our arrival the lodge was 13 degrees, the heatIng was broken, it was actually warmer outside. The lodge also hadnt been cleaned, the oven was filthy, the cutlery draw was dirty, as was all of the kitchen, the floor in all the corners were dirty, cobwebs on the ceiling. We called the manager who told us the cleaner would be out in the morning, he tried to fix the heating himself. We were asked to stay in the hotel for the night as it was so cold. The hotel room was not much better in the cleanliness. This hotel quite clearly does not know how to clean properly, let alone clean in COVID. The cleaner came in the next morning she was supposed to do a deep clean that is ridiculous, she clearly does not know how to clean let alone deep clean, the oven was done, the rest of the dirt was Just moved around. We came back and put everything in the dish washer, it took 4 loads to clean the items in the kitchen, we then anti-backed the draws and cupboards, which were dirty. I really cant stress enough do not waste your money on this tired filthy lodge

  Excellent

  A one night stay, fully inclusive. From the moment we arrived it was apparent the staff were intent on making our stay a good experience. Reception were excellent and the dining room staff attentive and friendly. The meal, Partridge and fruit crumble were really nice. The rooms and decor are excellent and the grounds a wonderland of short walks. The entire experience left us wanting to return.

  Barnstable Hall Hotel

  We stayed for a weekend break. Hotel is lovely with great views and walks around it staff were great very helpful and friendly wherever we went. Tina and her colleagues in the restaurant, the spa and leisure suite (names escape me at the moment). But wherever we went they were helpful. Room was very nice, a tad chilly when we first went in but it had been closed for a wee while. Very covid aware and all ok. Stamford and Oakham are not too far and nice to walk around. Great place great location great staff. We will return.
