Nice but bedbugs...I enjoyed my stay at Baan Kata Maytha but I kept getting bitten by either mosquitoes or some sort of bug. Had the maid use a bit of bug spray but that didn't do the job. On my last day, I went for a massage and the masseuse told me it was bedbug bites and not mosquito bites. I had her speak to the receptionist at Baan Kata Maytha but he apparently denied it. The bugs had bitten areas all over my back and on my shoulders, as well as on my legs and arms. It was a bit maddening and I found myself tempted to constantly scratch my itches. A grouchy pharmacist at Boots Central Festival was less than helpful, so I finally got the meds I needed back in Bangkok. In general the staff at Baan Kata Maytha are friendly but I don't think I'll be going back real soon.

Awesome serviceWe had a 2 night stay at this place and the service was incredible! It was pouring rain and the lovely gentleman working the front, Sunata - gave my boyfriend a ride to grab some food. It's the extra service that was really nice. Location is a bit out of the way but if you are looking to be more amongst the local then the price of the rooms are a great deal. Tuk tuk into town was about 200baht, easy to walk down to the beach, would be about a 20-30 minute walk.

Clean and newBaan Kata Maytha was a nice place to stay. The hotel is brand new and the rooms are large and clean. The swiming pool was very nice. The breakfast was quite basic, but for a week it was ok. In overall we loved our stay there.

Friendly, helpful staffThe staff at Baan Kata Maytha were lovely, really friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is modern, the rooms are spacious, and the pool is a good size and very new-looking. The drying rack on the balcony, and the beach towels and mats for free hire near the lobby are a fantastic idea and very much appreciated given a lot of people are in Phuket to visit the beach! It's about 15 minute walk from the beach, but the hotel also does a free shuttle to the beach every couple of hours. There's restaurants and a couple of mini-marts within a 5 minute walk.

Don't waste your timeDO NOT STAY HERE. Our room was very dirty and not what we expected - stains on the sheets and pillows, dirty showerhead, broken toilet seat, unclean A/C unit, non working tv, the most uncomfortable hard bed. The breakfast buffet looked pitiful and we did not even waste our money. We decided after the first night we did not want to stay here ever again, even though we had 2 more nights booked and paid for. We found a much cleaner hotel closer to the beach for $20 more a night. The front desk lady said she could not refund our money for next 2 nights, even though we were not staying there. She said we would have to go through Expedia to get a refund. She lied. Expedia would also not give us a refund. They also had initially upgraded us from studio room to a "nicer room", so I can only imagine what the studio is like....take my advice pay a little more if you can and stay somewhere else!!!
