Old-World Charm in a Comfortable HotelThis hotel located in the small shopping mall in Avesta, Sweden is over 100 years old. Its well maintained and still keeps its old-world charm. If youre looking for a super-modern hotel, this is not the place. If you want a family-run, comfortable hotel with spacious, comfortable rooms, this is the place. We were on vacation and visiting my husbands parents in the area. Our room (#29) is on the top (3rd) floor and it was quite comfortable and spacious. The bed was quite soft, which I liked. Our view was of the small shopping mall in which the hotel is located. After visiting my husbands parents, we would spend the evening strolling the mall and checking out the local grocery stores. (Its a small town.) The bathroom was a bit small, but fine. We stayed two nights and enjoyed a lovely breakfast both mornings (included in the rate). The breakfast was very good with everything we could have asked for: excellent coffee, eggs, cold cuts, bread choices, yogurt, fruit, and more. The staff was very friendly and concerned that we were having a nice stay. I had a bit of trouble navigating their website to make a reservation, so I emailed the hotel and they made the reservation for me. Very fast and polite. English was not a problem. There was a small laundry room (one washer and dryer) available in the evenings for guest use. The wi-fi connection was great. Down the hall from our room was a kitchen available to guests for preparing meals. The one negative I can find in this hotel is that there are quite a few noisy seagulls in the area, so if you leave the windows open, you can definitely hear them screeching. They screech quite consistently. The hotel does provide good-quality earplugs in the room. I had no problem sleeping with the ear plugs, but my husband had some difficulty. We stayed in the summer and needed to keep the windows open while sleeping (there is no A/C) and in Sweden it does not get dark in the summertime until approximately 11:00 pm and light at about 3:00 am. Besides the seagull noise our stay was quite enjoyable. I would absolutely stay again!

FriendlyThis was a basic hotel. The staff were so lovely and helpful, we felt very welcome. Especially when we were asking questions and for things they might not normally get to deal with. Basic rooms, small bathroom, basic but good breakfast. Would stay again. Bit old and tatty but clean.

Does what it says on the boxComfortable hotel, small and intimate, rooms comfortable but quite old, as is the hotel. I wasn't expecting a lot as Avesta is a pretty small town. The staff are friendly, the breakfast is good, not a fantastically broad selection but good. I arrived late and there were facilities for making tea and coffee as well as fresh fruit. A bit expensive, but this is after all Sweden!

Overnight stop in Avesta for workOvernight stop in Avesta for work, Home run hotel, no one on reception when we first arrived, but simple enough to phone the number on the front door in order to get the front door passcode. Rooms were clean, if perhaps a little dated. Buffet breakfast in the morning was perfectly adequate and the staff were really friendly.

OvernightOvernight stay on road trip. Very difficult to find accommodation in the area as there was a lot of construction happening. A bit difficult to gain entry to building, but once in, check in was easy. Clean room. Good breakfast. Centrally located and walked around the town. Easy to park
