    Bank Holiday Weekend Break Away

Had a lovely weekend in Gorleston. The Avalon isnt an amazing B&B but was fine for us. Stayed in Room 11 on ground floor, large spacious family room with disabled access, Tea & Coffee making facilities, TV with full FreeView channels. Room cleaned, beds made & clean towels everyday. Our Bed was a bit uncomfortable, felt like it may have been a bit collapsed on the right hand side. My back is shot to bits anyway but was worse after sleeping in the Bed there. Bathroom was a wetroom, had a bad smell in it to start with, just a damp smell, I put bleach down all the plugholes, toilet etc then realised when we used the Shower that the plughole was blocked & the Water was running across the bathroom & rotting a wooden cabinet the otherside. I spoke to the staff about it as didnt want to flood their room & soak the Carpet, they were very helpful & seemingly it was sorted out. The Breakfasts were fine; Cereals, Toast, Cooked Breakfasts, Yoghurts etc some of the Fruit was past its best. Windbreakers, Beach Mats etc available to borrow for the Day, lots of leaflets & info in hallway on local attractions & places to visit. They have a great balance between guests given privacy but knowing theres someone only a bellring away should anyone need anything. No curfews so you can come & go as you please - whatever time. Was lovely & quiet when we were there. Only downside WiFi doesnt work anywhere in the B&B

A Perfect example of Hospitality in a lovely area!

Having checked out of our previous accommodation early due to a poor service what a gold mine we struck finding this place. My wife is disabled so we searched TripAdvisor for suitable hotels in Norfolk. We arrived without booking hoping we would be lucky and Wow! We hit the jackpot. The room we were shown by the lovely Anne was ground floor family Room, en-suite with walk-in shower. Perfect. The previous guests had just checked out and Anne said the room would be ready in half an hour. So we went for a stroll around the area and found a great cafe called Margo's Lounge where we enjoyed a snack and drinks. We were able to book for the 4 nights we had planned to stay at our previous accommodation and were well looked after for the whole duration of our stay. Apart from the array of cereals fruit juices and yogurts we had the best cooked breakfast I have tasted in a long while. And we've stayed in hotels all over the world. Free Wi-Fi was excellent. Biscuits, teas & coffees provided daily. There was a fan if needed and the room was spotless. Grab rails and a shower stool were added in the wet room and fresh towels on hand. The only thing we thought would have been an improvement was the mattress on the double bed. It could do with replacing as it sags in the middle. And the TV is small so if you prefer your screen like a cinema you may be disappointed (It didn't bother us!) Other than that can't fault Avalon for a lovely place to get away for a break. Met Steve on our final day and both he and Anne are wonderful hosts.

    Functional bed and breakfast

Stayed here with my mother and daughter. It is a nice B&B in a good location. The rooms are clean and functional. To make this review helpful I would say; - check the mobility of your guests as the rooms are upstairs and there is no lift. This was difficult for us and there is no one to offer help - take some extra tea bags with you. They provide PG tips in the room which was good, just not enough for us! - the breakfast is very basic. However it is served in a nice room - there are no dayrooms or bar area for the evening - for the price it is nice, but if you want facilities I would check out the Cliff Hotel
