  RUN BY THEE MOST GORGEOUS SRI LANKANS

  The bungalows are around a very small pool. It's all very basic and the rooms are too. Just a concrete bungalow with a show/wet room. It's very clean. This is in an urban Sri Lankan area. As with most of Sri Lanka, there's nowhere to go out for a walk. The owner is completely bonkers - in a good way - (Tungsan) and we loved him. Two old Sri Lankan men -Harold and Milton - look after you and cook for you. They are adorable. Milton's son has a tuk tuk and will go get beers etc for you and also take you out to other resorts and pick you up. He is absolutely lovely too. The beach is accessed over the railway line but not a big prob. Downside is that needs cleaning as it's covered in plastic bottles but Tungsan is going to deal with this. There is no spa or massage/tennis courts btw (not that we cared). We cried when we left our Harold and Milton and Putha and keeping in touch with them.

  Very lovely place

  Avakasha hotel consists of 7 or 8 bungalows, simply furnished, but clean. There is a small swimming pool in the middle (also very clean). The hotel is owned by a local gentleman, who is a very nice man, though he isn't there very often. There are 2 older Sri Lankan gentlemen, and one younger who take a wonderful care of you! Cook, clean and look after you:-) All of them are just incredible. There is a railway between the hotel and the beach - but it never really bothered us. Might be a downside for someone, but from other hand it's quite handy if you want to travel (e.g. to Kalutara see the Temple, Panadura for shopping in Odel, etc...) or many other places. Direct train goes from the station to Colombo/Mount Lavinia. There's nowhere really to walk to as it is in quite a secluded place. The beach is good, not many people at all. Yes, you'll have to walk across the railway line which isn't a problem. When we were there the beach was quite clean. I do hope to come visit guys/ stay at Avakasha again:-)
