  This is exactly what I hoped for our Eastern Hokkaido trip

  We loved this place. It is located 5-10 min. car ride from central Abashiri. Our room had a beautiful view onto Abashiri Lake. The twin bedded room (about 120cm wide each?) was not large but good enough for our one night stay. It was without bathroom but with a decent shower booth with functions (but we did not use it). Nothing luxurious but charming with local touch of decoration. Open-air public bath with view as well as indoor bath. Both pleasant. Not so large. Dinner at the in-house restaurant was very & very good. Basically French with Japanese ideas. Refined and quite vegetalian with excellent seafood. Local Japanese sake was also good. Breakfast like-wise delicious. You can choose between Japanese and Western. The reception area is without air-con but our room as well as their restaurant were air-conditionned. Warm welcome throughout our stay. They may also well accommodate foreign visitors, as I see many have come from Korea. This place with local taste is what I hoped for my trip and I was satisfied.

  A privileged place

  We stayed at the Auberge Kitano Dandan for three nights, and we could have spent our whole vacation there. We had the chance to be the only guests (end September). The room had a fantastic view on Lake Abashiri and was very convenient, clean and with two separate beds, and a shower. The auberge is full of antique furnitures, photos from another time and a lot of other old items so that it's almost a little museum. The employees were exceptionally friendly. As we had to take the train every morning very early and couldn't therefore have breakfast at the auberge, they especially prepared for us lunch boxes every day instead. The Japanese breakfast we finally could enjoy the last morning was just outstanding. We only can recommend this hotel and would return any time.

  Lovely place

  It is an expensive hotel but in the middle of the lake with excelent facilities and menues for breakfast and dinner. The ideal place for 2 nights visiting the Shiretoko area. The hotel has hot spring water facilities and massage services and a very nice reception area for wire fire facilities. Tv is only in japanesse. Inside the roon a massage bath facility is available allowing you to take a relaxing bath in the confort of your roon.

  Tranquil place to relax whilst in Abashiri

  We were a family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 teenagers) in a very large spacious room. Breakfast options include 2 Japanese options and a western meal. The Japanese breakfast was very good and the experience of having a meticulous made breakfast was memorable. The onsen options include indoor and outdoors for both genders allowing time to relax on our roadtrip holiday. Lastly there is a garden beside the hotel which the family enjoyed after breakfast and has seasonal flowers along with rabbits for the kids to see.

  Beautiful hotel in stunning location

  Top quality food here in a very lovely building, surrounded by beautiful landscape. Beautiful place to get away from it all for a few days. Staff are excellent and service is of a high standard. Slightly awkward to get to from the railway station. Its a short taxi ride or a 40 minute walk with a very steep uphill ending in a rather remote environment.
