  great staff, good free breakfast

  stay a night for festival western st tite which 25 km away from hotel, very friendly staff, buy the ticket for rodeo with help of them, good seating, because they know where is the best. it close to highway, but still quiet, hotel was full on saturday night when we stay, but check in and out are really fast. breakfast is free, we thought it was not free that is what it said on the internet when we book. But it was really good breakfast, a hot breakfast, eggs, toast, bacon, fruits with nice fresh coffee, unlike other chain hotel, just some muffin, coffee. Would stay again next time and recommend to friends when come to Mauricie.

  Basic comfort

  My son and I stayed for 3 nights for a hockey tournament held in neighboring St. Tite. Overall, this motel-hotel is fairly basic. Some rooms have carpet others wood floors. Take note that some rooms have single beds that are really small for teens or adults. Comfortable but small. We enjoyed the breakfast which was included in the sports rate. Not much for the kids to do. No pool or game room but they did give us access to a pretty good size room usually used for meetings...the kids gathered there and had fun. WiFi was also included but not all rooms have the same quality of reception. If you're used to mid to high end hotels you will be disappointed. If you're looking for basic convenience ... this should do although the rates are a bit high.

  Beware

  We had no reservation but opted to stay in this Auberge which seemed ok from the exterior. The first room we got had not been vacuumed and the floor was filthy with black dog hairs!! We went back and we were offered another room on the second level. The room itself was much nicer and brighter than the first and the comfort was fine. Problem: we paid $106.93 for this room and they don't include breakfast anymore even if it says so on their publicity!! That was a shock to me, when I mentioned that breakfast should be included as stated also in the room, the manager said he would get his literature up to date soon... We felt cheated and treated without respect. A big no no, from me.

  Interesting Room

  We stayed here for one night on our way out east. The room had very interesting, Asian themed decor. Very 90s. The bathroom was all black which was also very interesting. Although the room was pretty cool, we found it kind of dingy and dusty, and smelled like my grandpas basement. Hard to get used to. All in all, it was good for a one night stay. Bonus: the view from the back balcony is pretty awesome. Unbonus: the shower was weirdly hard to figure out.

  Pretty standard

  Despite what some reviewers have said, I didn't find the Auberge Escapade to be too bad. The room was pretty much average; nothing fancy, but nothing really bad either. There was a bit of a strange smell, and the door to the outside didn't work, but that's about it. The location is good for getting on and off A-55, but I would stay somewhere closer to downtown if I wanted the full Shawinigan experience. The price is certainly a positive. There is a restaurant on site, but I didn't eat there.
