  Lovely stop-over

  Plus side : Quiet location. Good parking. Friendly staff. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Lovely views from room. Balcony with table and chairs an added bonus. Down side: Room on the small size but still quite light and airy. Also compensated by large new modern bathroom. Overall: A lovely stop-over.

  No Way to Treat Guests

  Having booked a night at the Auberge some 6 months earlier, we were surprised to get an email 3 days before our stay telling us that the restaurant would be closed but the hotel could give us a cold meal, I emailed back to say thank you and that the cold meal would be very acceptable and that we would be arriving at around 4.30. We duly arrived at 4.30 to be met by a very rude man who told us that the hotel was closed! I showed him the emails and he muttered something along the lines of the restaurant is closed youll have to eat in your bedroom he then grudgingly got a room key and waved us up the stairs in the direction of our room at the top of the building. We later complained to the woman in charge (who spoke no English) but, apart from showing us how the air conditioning worked, she was very unhelpful and not at all apologetic. We then discovered that not only was the restaurant closed but the whole hotel was closed as when we tried to access the bar later on we found the hotel had been locked! We had access to the car park but that was all, we had no choice but to wait in our room (very thirsty apart from the tap water which we werent sure was drinkable) until, thankfully, at 7 pm a tray of cold food did arrive. We found this situation totally unacceptable and would have preferred it if the hotel was honest with us and told us that they had decided to close, so that we could have had the opportunity to book another hotel. A room at the top of a flight of stairs does not constitute a hotel.

  Practical hotel to visit the local area

  We booked this hotel because we were going to a wedding nearby, and we needed somewhere to sleep. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel restaurant and friendly staff. The 3 course set menu was a good price for quality of the food, and just what we needed after a long drive. The reception and waiting staff were attentive and professional. There was ample, free parking, and the road next to the hotel is quiet. There are a few things that are negatives; our bathroom was newly refurbished, but some other areas of the hotel would benefit from some new decoration. The local church bell rings every hour, but is quiet between 11pm and 7am. The hotel cannot change the bell ringing, but if you like a late morning snooze then bring earplugs. Overall the hotel is a functional and practical hotel to use to visit the local area. We would stay there again.

  WONDERFUL PLACE TO EAT & GREAT HOSPITALITY

  A real gem. You would have had no idea of how special this place was from driving past it. It looks like an ordinary little auberge, but when we stopped in to have lunch we had the best meal of our holiday. When we complimented the chef the waiter was delighted but modest, saying that what we were eating was just an ordinary lunch menu. With that we vowed to return for our final meal of the holiday to sample its evening fare. This is authentic Basque cuisine at its best, cooked superlatively, with ample portions at a very reasonable price. Its also popular with the locals, which is always a good sign. The atmosphere and decor are elegant and welcoming and the staff wonderful. Highly recommended.

  Ideal para desconectar.

  Elegimos este albergue como base de operaciones para visitar el país vasco frances y cumplió con creces nuestra expectativa. Por nuestro error cogimos una habitación adaptada para personas de movilidad reducida y nos cambiaron de habitación sin ningún problema y además nos obsequiaron con 4 latas de foie espectacuares. Habitaciones limpias con terrazas amplias y con vistas a la piscina o a la iglesia. Personal muy amable y servicial con mención especial a la chica que hablaba español, muy atenta y profesional. Nos quedaron cosas por visitar asique volveremos
