Fabulous overnight stopGreat value hotel, we were traveling to our home in the South and had adult daughter and our dog with us. Booked the family room and wow ! Two rooms with a separate bathroom and toilet. Both rooms decorated with some very stylish Brocante, comfortable and lots of space. Exceptional peace and quiet. We took a recommendation for dinner, which we throughly enjoyed. Breakfast was good and varied. Really liked the location, the ambiance and the charm of this small hotel.

Avoid this hotelDont bother with this hotel, go to the Vieille Auberge nearby, only a few euros more and in a different league. My heart sank when we drew up outside. The U had dropped off the sign ( see photo) leaving this place named Auberge des Pits, which about summed it up. It was shabby and scruffy and furnished with discarded furniture and bric a brac. Inside it was gloomy. The bedroom had a huge cinema poster which had a face staring down at me all night, not to mention tacky heads of a hippo and a polar bear stuck on the wall. (See photos) I had a light switch and reading light but not the other bed. There was a bracket for a tv but no tv. There was double glazing but not finished off and a broken handle lay on the sill. The bedding and carpet were clean, so was the bathroom but the plug was broken and I had to prise out the plug with a nail file. In the drawer under the basin was an ancient and unappealing hair drier. The other drawer had water in it. The bedside table had a wooden top riddled with woodworm and an oil lamp with no shade. On a table was an old coffee machine and some old coffee sachets. Under on a shelf was a wooden hand with missing finger. There were lumps of stone on the floor and some old and scruffy rocking horses. This was more surrealist than shabby chic. The hotel no longer has a restaurant and breakfast was served in the abandoned dreary dining room. A selection of over ripe and tired fruit set the scene. We took some fresh bread and croissants outside with the indifferent coffee. Why would anyone put the torso of a shop window mannequin on a ledge half way down the stairs, with flowers that I thought were dead, but were artificial. See photo. Outside were tables and chairs that were tired, and the place needed a good sweep. There was no internet and the management seemed to be in no hurry to get it fixed. Avoid this place. Stay at the Vieille Auberge which is fresh and bright and comfortable and where the staff are charming, helpful, and food is very good. .

Excellent hospitalityWe have been to this place many times. Claudine is always so kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend a visit, even if it's just a drink. English speaking and really worth the money . Good for local drink.

Auberge du Puits, chez ClaudineWe arrived on bicycles and were welcomed by Ms. Claudine, who was friendly and spoke perfect English. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent -- a good start for our next day cycling journey. Claudine let us keep our bikes indoors overnight. Good location, easy to walk to restaurants and shops. Recommended.
