Wonderful food with a traditonal Normandy atmosphereWe were staying overnight and choose Auberge des Aulnettes primarily because of the location and the dishes shown on their website all which exceed our expectations. This is an Auberge so the emphasis is very much on the food rather than luxury accommodation. The restaurant is laid out in a very precise and tidy way and was spotlessly clean. There were three menus to choose from all using local produce and cooked with simplicity and flair and beautifully presented. The traditional style Hotel/restaurant is set in beautiful grounds set back from the road. The rooms are fairly small, simple, well decorated and furnished in a contemporary style do not expect great luxury however we felt the bathroom in our own room was too small. The owners are very welcoming and speak a little English we got on well using a mixture of French and English. The Auberge is a short drive from Houlgate a traditional Normandy holiday resort well worth a visit even if you are travelling on.

A dog's dinnerSome many things wrong with this place - difficult to know where to start! We had said we would arrive at 5.30 but on arrival found a scrappy note on door to say they would not open until 6 - they had contact details and could have prewarned us. We were then met by an over friendly host. The room was small (bathroom door hit the bed), shabby, filthy bathroom with loose tiles on the floor and the walls paper thin so you could every word of next door's conversation plus their snoring and toilet habits. Plus was that the bed linen and towels were clean. We were enjoying our first course- the food was tasty- when the host allowed a couple with a large VERY smelly dog to sit at the next table. Unfortunately the smell was so disgusting that we left the restaurant there immediately but as we had had a glass of wine could not leave the hotel. The host offered meaningless apologies when he could have simply asked the other guests to leave their animal outside. Would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Oh so lovelyMe, my husband, and our two daughters just spend 3 nights at this lovely hotel. We had a great family room composed of two rooms, each with a double bed, and then shared facilities. Super clean and very nice bed linen. The staff is very friendly and service minded. The breakfast buffet is great, with croissants, yogurt, cereals, fruits, cheese, ham and jams. We also dined at the restaurant and truly enjoyed the meal. I very much recommend this hotel.

Wifi funcionaba bien

The best quality/price ratio on the "cote fleurie" in Normandy!Jolie hotel! Just outside the center of Houlgate, in the green, but not far from the beach. We had a very nice room with two queen size beds, clean and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent. Food and service were great! The best quality/price ratio on the "cote fleurie" in Normandy!
