Very disappointedHaving travelled for some 10 hours we were looking forward to our stay in Annecy. We booked the hotel back early in June and called to let them know our requirements. 2 adults and 1 child who is 17, room with a view of the lake not to much to ask for. Except for the owner of this hotel, have to say as I find an arrogant old lady with no manners whatsoever, if it wasn't for the two reception lady's we would have walked instantly. The first room we were given only had 2 beds it was dark smelly and like something out of the 1950s after complaining they put a bed in fit for a child of 10yrs of age max. The owner didn't want to know she just told her staff to sort it out even when I pointed out the notes on the booking she just dismissed it like I was one of her staff. In the end we had to pay over 500 euros to upgrade to a suite only because all the hotels in the area were fully booked the owner knew this which meant she had us over a barrel so to speak. This part of France is stunning and the hotel Is Not. So in my opinion stay clear of this place with the current owner shame really because in the right hands it could be fab.

AverageWe stayed in this hotel on 30th December half board , we picked it as it came across as a "foodie hotel " and this is why I was disappointed. Our evening meal was nice but nothing special , it was a set meal and good value. The surprise when we came to pay the bill , we had a glass of champagne with a touch of sherry in and were charged 16 euros each and we had tap water out of a pump at the (bottle) and again changed 4.65 euro . Finally breakfast was cold meats and cheese etc, once it has gone they don't restock with more . So you need to get down early or go hungry!! . The staff are lovely and we had a lake view room , which was a lovely view. But overall disappointed for the price we paid !!!!!

3 star hotel, four star prices!Amazingly, 1 May till 10 November is considered by this hotel to be "high season". However, when we were there in mid May the pool was not yet open (although the weather was fine and warm) and both restaurants were only open some of the time. The hotel's bistro was not available in the evenings, only the much more expensive restaurant. We were given the impression the hotel was full but,in fact, there were barely any other people staying. Although we had requested it, we were not able to get a room with a shower cubicle, only one with a shower over the bath. This was, we were told, because all the rooms with shower cubicles had been taken - and yet the hotel was not full! There were only five tables occupied at breakfast. Breakfast was very disappointing and - at 16 euros per person - poor value for money. The coffee was undrinkable. Dinner, if you wanted to eat at the hotel's so called better restaurant, was exorbitantly expensive so we gave it a miss. Our room was spacious but with shabby decor. It badly needed redecorating. The wallpaper was torn in some places and there were marks on the walls. When we commented at reception about the state of the hotel we were told it was because it was old. But actually it wasn't. It just needed a bit of looking after - it was,we felt, neglected and could so easily have been improved and made nicer. Our room had a separate loo which could have been a bonus but it was extremely small and cramped. So much so, that one needed to use it with the door open! It was airless and had no fan. There was actually a foul odour which we complained about. The toilet had yellow stains from urine on both sides of the loo seat (hence the smell probably) and the porcelain was cracked at the back. It was a disgrace and should have been replaced years ago. The toilet paper provided was very poor quality - the kind one used to see in public toilets years ago. Although we told the staff about the state of the loo, it was not properly cleaned. The loo seat really should have been completely replaced while we were there. Had we not paid in advance through booking.com we would have left and gone elsewhere. Coffee and drinks in the hotel were very expensive - more than we have paid in 5* hotels! There was no tea or coffee provided in one's room. However, along the corridor was a room with a kettle and one cup and saucer provided! This room also had an iron and ironing board. This amenity - one assumes - was meant for all the people on that floor! The one good thing was that we had was a nice big terrace with a lovely view of the lake although the chairs provided were quite shabby and there was no table. The hotel corridors were dark and dismal. The whole place needed some TLC. One just felt that it was neglected and crying out for some attention. We felt that with a less mean attitude that this could be a fine hotel. We would not wish to stay there again and would certainly not recommend it.

Amazing views, disappointing roomThe only thing this hotel has going for it is the wonderful terrace off the rooms with a lake view. The rooms were dark and damp and well overdue for refurbishment. The breakfast was simple but delicious, however you can get delicious French pastries anywhere. The restaurant looked busy but we gave it a skip as the smell wasnt very inviting and we struggled with the language barrier. Plenty of other options available so give this one a miss.

Beautiful view, hotel underwhelmingThis hotel is right on the lake with the mountains beyond. A room with a lake view is worth the extra cost as it is beautiful to wake up to. We hired bikes for our five day stay and cycled the 3 km into Annecy most days on excellent cycle paths. The hotel itself was tired and old fashioned. With its position it could be magnificent, but it is not. The family and staff, although friendly, provided poor service and had odd, old fashioned rules. Wifi, although free, requires a special ticket with separate login and password for each device, which expires each day, as though it is some valuable commodity! Pool towels are locked away and guarded by reception. When we asked for drinks by the pool, we were told that we had to have them away from the pool, presumably in case of broken glass. Perhaps plastic glasses would be an obvious solution. Air con is the clear comfort that is sorely missing. We were there in 32-35 degree heat, and none of the hotel was air conditioned. Breakfast was a buffet which was nice, but service was very poor. Frequently we would we waiting 20 or 25 minutes for any staff to materialise and take tea/coffee orders. When we checked out, someone was waiting behind me for 10 minutes to be served. A second senior staff member was working in the office, looked at the waiting customer and did nothing! A little basic refresher in customer service may be useful I think! With some investment and a business brain directing things, this hotel could be amazing, but it has a long way to go and requires the current family owner/managers to step aside. Such a wasted opportunity.
