  Disappointing.

  Four of us visited for lunch last week - 2 chose from the 22 euro menu, my wife and I from the 28. It was all pretty uninspiring, even mediocre. The attitude of the staff ranged from disinterested to surly, unlike the service provided to a table of French diners across the room.I`ll spare you the details. I had the distinct impression that the food came out of a Brake Bros bag. Sure enough, when visiting the boulangerie next door the following day, we saw the BB van delivering outside. Sadly, this is the first time I have ever needed to write a review like this, and we have eaten in many, many French restaurants. If you`re in St Privat, go to La Belle Epoque instead.

  Very high-quality and pleasant

  As expected was fun and the staff is excellent. My French (not just fries) is a bit ..just a bit but still they spoke English and we're happy that there was only understanding). Highly recommended to my business partners and friends.

  Brilliant lunchtime offers

  We were crossing from the Dordogne to the Auvergne, and struggled to find anywhere decent for lunch. On passing through the village we spotted the Auberge and parked up in the main square to investigate further. There were quite a few people dining, so we decided to stay. The a la carte menu looked fairly expensive, but there was a lunchtime "prix fixe" of just 15 per person which we decided on. First of all we were brought a large tureen of soup to help ourselves, which in itself was filling, followed by a beef stew with lots of meat, and vegetables, followed by a dessert and including a drink. We struggled to eat it all, there was so much! The staff were pleasant and the surroundings of both the restaurant and hotel were modern and spotless. A great place to stop for a first class lunch!

  High quality hotel.

  I stayed at this hotel as part of a cycling holiday and enjoyed staying at the hotel. The quality of the room was excellent, a large shower, powerful hairdryer and comfortable beds - what more can you want! There was easily accessible wifi and comfortable chairs overlooking the little town area. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the staff were incredibly accommodating, and provided all service with a smile despite a few hiccups!

  Peace and quiet

  Lost in this pristine part of France lies Saint Privat, and in the centre of Saint Privat the Auberge de la Xaintrie. This place offers a great deal of amenities in a charming decor. We had a spacious room, well appointed and across from the church. The dinner we had was excellent, fresh produce well-prepared and nicely served. Saint Privat may feel like it is in the middle of nowhere but in fact its central location in the region allows trips in the beautiful surroundings, including nearby Argentat on the Dordogne river.
