Good position, excellent dinner, bed not very comfortable, otherwise good.Well signposted so easy to find. Plenty of parking as we were the only car there. Room up 1 flight of steps (no lift). Our room was double-sized with a few of the mountains. The bathroom had a small bath, and there was plenty of storage space. Free wifi, but the speed was variable. We had dinner in their restaurant which was 4 courses for Euro 56 and very good, with wines from Euro20. Although the bedroom was large the bed was a bit narrow and not very comfortable. Breakfast was a basic continental one, not a buffet but with so few staying there that night not a surprise.

A little piece of HeavenWe only stayed here for one night on our way back from the south of France but would definitely return. M. and Mme Gay were welcoming and friendly. The whole experience was one of calm and tranquility. Dinner was excellent and beautifully presented. The view from the restaurant was amazing. Our room was large enough and the bed was comfy. On waking the in the morning, the only sound you could hear was the sound of cow bells....rather like an alpine resort. So quiet! Only two negatives... internet was very patchy and the towels were small and rather rough....but these were minor things. And would not stop us from returning. Thank you M. And Mme Gay for a wonderful stay. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful location!Visiting Au Gay Sejour was like a trip down memory lane for me, even though Id never been there previously. Its been many years since Ive done a French road-trip holiday, and back in the 80s and 90s those trips were guided by Richard Binns French Leave books with their superb restaurant recommendations ranging from the simple to the 3 star Michelin. So, consulting one of Dickies guides and knowing that T and I were spending time in the beautiful Annecy area en route to Chamonix, I saw that way back when Au Gay Sejour was a French Leave favourite, so notwithstanding the somewhat dated appearance of their website, I thought wed give it a go. We found that the website is truthful, rooms are simple, views are amazing (from the dining room), good food - still served up by Monsieur Gay and his wife, and its a great location to explore The Tamie Valley and Annecy. If you want a genuine retro experience, in a hamlet off the beaten track, with the opportunity to visit Annecy, its lakes, hills and chic town, together with the Tamie Abbey (we went to Vespers one evening at 6.15 pm) Au Gay Sejour is well worth a visit.
